Just like I was having a CD issue, now I am having a webcam issue. No program will recognize my webcam, dell webcam central says "Please Close other Streaming Programs" but they are all closed. What do I need to do to get it to recognize it. And yes it shows up in device manager.

How about removing the current cam driver(s) and re-installing it anew? You might also want to give the cam device removal a shot.

Search for 'programs' and select Add Remove programs. Find your webcam driver and software and uninstall everything that is web cam related.

Then search for 'Device' and select Device Manager. Under 'imaging devices' you should find your webcam. Right click and select install.
If its not there dont worry. Uninstalling the software probably removed it.

    Restart computer.

Go to Dell website and download webcam software and drivers (might be one package or two)
Install them and follow the instructions on screen.

    See if it works now.

i had a similar issue too and it was the driver

but now i have another problem with my webcam,my lid(monitor) has to be vertical (90 degrees wit the keyboad) for it to work,if i move it even slightly it disconnects.

Anyone knows what the problem might be?

Maybe there is a loose wire somewhere internally? It's strange that it does that but that's all I can think of right now.

I had this issue with my laptop as well but I solved it.
You need to open up to the cable and adjust the twisting in a position such that it no longer signal lost.

Get the service manual for your laptop. Find the section that says the camera, or at least the LCD. There should be a guide to how to get to the cable there.
