There is a website that is not displaying properly in IE on my vostro 1400 w/vista business. Some of the text and pictures get cut off in the middle of the screen. I also have a desktop that I was running IE 7 on and the website was displaying properly however, when I upgraded to IE 8, the same thing happened to the webpage. Does anyone know what the problem is? I tried searching but I don't know how to exactly describe the problem and wasn't getting any helpful search results.

Is there a known connection problem wth your internet? Do you have any ping issues? It looks like the internet cutted off before IE can finish render the webpage.

If your Vostro 1400 has IE8, then it appears to be an IE issue.

I really don't believe its an internet connection problem. Everything else seems to run just fine. Like namaiki said, I think its an IE8 problem. I really don't know much about this kind of thing but I think its compatability issue of the website programming and IE8. The webpage itself isn't cut off, its the content thats not displaying properly. This has got me spinning and I have no idea how to remedy it. Thanks for your input.

It's not your problem, it's IE8 and the website. Well, mostly IE8, apparently MS uses some non-standard codes, so if the website isn't written with codes that IE8 likes, then the website will not be shown properly.

Hey thanks stewie. Nice bike. I'm guessing my only alternative is to use another version of IE that the website likes.

You could give another browser a try and see if it helps...

Can you try to "compatibility" mode in IE8? This solves most of the problem. IE8 actually adheres to the HTML standards thus making the non-standard IE7 webpage difficult to render.
Can you tell us which website you're referring to as well so we can test it with our IE8. -
Yeah, your'e right Convoluted. I guess I'm tunnel visioned, so brainwashed on MS. I'm not sure what "compatibility" mode is but the website is http://home.pacbell.net/jorea/CRF450X/index.htm. The home page always seems to display properly. Its when you make selections from the menu on the left and then click on one of the thumbnails that comes up on the right that the reulting page does not display correctly. The picture does not fit properly in the window and below the links highlighted in yellow is supposed to show a description of the picture but only the first line is displayed and the rest is missing. You'd never notice it if you didn't see the properly displayed page. I'll try to install firefox and see if its corrected. Thanks

Just installed firefox and its better but the page still does not display 100% correctly. The pictures are now displayed fully however the navigation buttons are in the middle of it. The wording for the description of the picture located below the links is now displayed completely. I can get what I need out of the website now which is what I was really concerned about but the techno geek side of me wants to figure this out and make it run properly. Thanks again to all.

Yeah, somethings' not quite right but at least I am able to see what I need to now. I'll keep an eye out to try and find out what going on although its not as urgent. Maybe I'll check the MS website. Thanks for your time and effort.

Would you mind sharing the webpage? Maybe one of us can figure out the problem. It could, however, very well could be a internal coding problem.

I've come to a conclusion that it's not a problem with IE8, but the website itself. For example, if you go to the Air Box Mods page, the red border for the text doesn't expand with the length of the text. There are also errors with the subpages when I tried the W3S validation.

I have a similar problem with my own website, (that was created using Microsoft Live's Office applications). A few suggestions have helped me a little: 1. Use your "compatibility view" link at the top of the page first (as others have suggested), and if that doesn't do anything, 2. try changing your screen resolution. I have found that can make a world of difference. Also, 3. take a look at that same page on several different computers with different screen sizes. Sometimes a page (depending how it is set up by the web designer) will display slightly differently on different screen sizes. Not sure what you can do about it, but at least that will point you in the right direction in seeking the solution.
