Weird Issues and Icon Changes

Before I list the issues my computer specs are as follows:

Power Notebooks Powerpro J 10:15 (IFL90)
T7500 Processor
200g Seagate Harddrive
3 gigs of ram
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit (No RC1 SP pack)
Nvidia 8600M GT 512 mb

For starters everytime I simply exit out of the steam application it crashes out with the "HL2.exe is not responding" (just recently started happening)

And randomly for some reason my Icons in the start menu will just disappear and the icon will be replaced with a white blank paper look (like you see the firefox symbol but it changed to say firefox next to it but its a blank paper)

Also whenever i exit out of steam, the right side of my screen turned right, right clicking does not work on it, cant even drag click the line thingy and no picture shows, that typically happens only in steam.

It said like when HL2.exe crashes i clicked on the "possible solutions" but i went there said it found no solutions and that the error was caused by "spyware docotor" which i dont even have nor have i installed it nor can i find it anywhere on my computer. Any help on waht the issue may be?

Programs i use frequently are:

Auslogics Defrag
Spybot
Spyware Blaster
A-Sqaured
Used to use AutoTweak MZ no longer do
CCleaner
Steam


Any help on known issues with things like this would be apprecaited!

 

i actually have the same icon problem..no idea what happened there though
