Ever since I installed Zune 3.0 software, sometimes when I boot up I hear the "found new hardware" sound, like when you plug in a USB mouse or HDD. It's done this in the previous versions of Zune software as well, so I know it isn't just 3.0.

    Anyone else get this?

    Specs in sig.

At which part when you boot up do you hear the sound?

I dont remember getting it, could be zune launcher.exe process causing this. Try disabling it from startup

I noticed that when it does happen, it happens when my network icons appear in the system tray.

I was thinking it may have been the ZuneBusEnum.exe, but it may be the ZuneLauncher.exe.

It doesn't bother me, but I'm curious.

Strange, this doesn't happen to me. I have no Zune programs running at startup; only on demand.

The actual Zune software doesn't launch when I boot up, just the .exe's that launch the software when I plug the Zune in to the computer.

Oh I see. I have settings set such that the Zune software does not launch when I plug in my Zune. I have to launch it myself. Perhaps that is causing the beep?

I may just disable that setting. I only plug my Zune in to charge it anyway. I don't update my music very much, so that feature isn't really needed I guess.

Yea, I generally just need to charge my Zune and don't need to update my music very often either. Does turning off that setting fix the "found new hardware" sound though?

I haven't tested it. I will later tonight when I get a chance.
