    Hi
I got this really strange problem on my Windows 7, wondering if anyone can fix it for me.
This only happen in Windows, it does not happen in BIOS or DOS
For example, if i press shift 2 instead of at sign i get nothing same goes for shift m or shift 1. It seems most of the shift key required function is gone. But the weirdest part is if I click right shift + m it works but right shift will not work with shift 2 for at sign. Really weird problem, wonder anyone can give me a hand on that.

Wow that is a strange problem, What brand computer and model do you have? Have you tried a diferent (external) keyboard?
If you have an ASUS laptop is the keyboard filter software installed?

My laptop is Hp Envy 15. If i plug in a new keyboard, it works fine, i suspect is some keyboard specific setting which i have no idea how to fix.

cound be a dead keyboard or a loose internal keyboard cable.

Have you disassembled your machine lately?

Nope I did not disassembled my machine lately and the keyboard is fine since I tested it with keyboard testing software and it reads all the key correctly at Bios level. It is only at Windows level that it screw up. So I am wondering if anyone know how to reset it without me reinstalling.

I have a keyboard remapping .reg file that clears out all custom key remaps.

I am hesitant to share it with anyone who does not know EXACTLY what it means to import a .reg and what it COULD mean to mess with keyboard mappings.

I tried external keyboard it seems to work. Really have no clue what is happening considering that the laptop is seldom moved and just sit on my table as desktop replacement.

I was doing this keyboard test again and I notice something really weird. Let says when I type on the external keyboard and hold the shift key and 1. Both shift and key will light up together. If i do it on my laptop keyboard, it will only light up if I press either shift or 1 and not when both is down. When both is down only the shift react.
