Strangely my two cousins and one of there co-workers has had the same problem(all different laptops), one of them said it was a virus im thinking its a coincidence. But yeah is there a virus going around that can do that?

Viruses are software. Your screen not turning on before Windows loads is hardware.

This is not 'Live free or Die hard' world where pressing 'Del' causes you to trigger a detonator...

    It is a hardware glitch...

    Is the screen opening smoothly?

Viruses can control/alter hardware. Usually doesn't mostly just deletes stuff, but if the programmer is good he can easily alter hardware, and I'm sure turning off screen would be simple.

The only way you can stop the screen from turning on at boot is by altering the firmware, which is often times written onto ROM - Read Only Memory. A virus is software. It can alter hardware, but only through software means.
