Inarguably, THE BEST browser ever!Too bad "FF" will as usual steal it's new features!

I don't like the visual tabs in the browser. It's redundant to the preview box in taskbar in Vista or Windows 7. Though, it would be a great feature for xp or linux users. The visual tab idea isn't new. IE7 had it when it was released.

go for it firefox, steal the new features.
oh, wait.. have had those exts long ago. dropped them as they're useless. -

Not sure how many these new features will help, I actually turned off visual preview, but having it as a whole bar might be more helpful, hopefully we can put it on a side since these widescreens lose to much height otherwise.
Hopefully they haven’t scarified any speed, Opera's speed is still the most important thing to me. -
one thing i use in opera that i havent seen in other browsers is their MDI

actually tabbed browsing is just a reduced version of windowed browsing. nowadays even back with own processes per window, sorry, tab.
the way i surfed pre-tab-days was simple: opened a new window. then i had "tabs" at the bottom, in the taskbar, which i could click. the great thing: you could have two tabs "side by side" if you want, to compare something, and much more.
tabs are just reduced windows. doesn't mean that's not a great thing. it just means it's not that magic holy grail thing a lot believe it to be.
i'd love to see the way chrome handles tabs ported to the os in general. so that one can fuse several "windows" into one, with tabs in between.
now that would have been a great thing of win7. but no, instead they messed up the taskbar </rantmode off> -
cheers ... -
Well....I believe its finally time Opera got more than 9 sites for speed dial.....I got alot more sites than 9 that I visit frequently so I'd constantly have to pick which ones to kick off the speed dial and stick on the bookmark.

I can't wear more than one shoe on any foot, can I?
Unless you meant to ask if there is a heap of shoes placed on my foot. To which the answer is, again, no. -
I've been using it for some time now, it's good! I'm using the Opera Standard skin for the first time (I use D.T.A otherwise), and it's awesome! They said they'll make many more changes to it before the final build comes out, and I hope it gets better and better. That hot-shot designer guy that Opera hired months ago is finally showing what he's all about, eh?!

i like mobile opera. there are plans for a big update on it, too, right? on the desktop, i never could get bothered to opera, dunno..
to everyone it's own. but i hope all stay alive and well with their browsers, i certainly don't want opera to die.

Opera 10 is seriously 5x as fast as Firefox and probably 8x on my family computer. This thing is a PoS though, so from what I can tell Opera 10 is faster on awful computers and doesn't make much of a difference on decent to good computers.

his pc/laptop.
opera is 0 faster than firefox here. then again, ssd solves all slowness -
Well, Opera's faster in loading pages than "FF", SSD can't do anything there!
-
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
well, it isn't. .. so, no, sorry.
-
Yes, it is, kind sir. Do some research, will you?!
-
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
i have both on my system, there's no difference. what more research is needed?
web is slow from time to time (espencially nbr was terrible the last weeks), but that is browser independent.
but no, page loading is the same on average on all sort of browsers in all my systems. so, no, sir, opera is not faster.
i don't have to attack it as i like it. it won't ever be my default browser as i have no need for it, though. i do like it on integrated things, from wii to mobile phones, etc. -
Sir, what connection are you on? Not all of the world's population is on 500 TBPmS, and those who're on a slow speed setup, the difference shows itself to them.
I was one of them for a week or so, a week or so ago, so I know too! -
davepermen Notebook Nobel Laureate
currently 24Mb/s down. no difference what i do, it's all the same. VDSL.

I meant my computer is a pos!
From what I've seen using Opera the speed difference between Opera and any other web browser on a computer with less than 1gb of ram is HUGE, but on computers with 2+gbs of ram I can't tell much of a speed difference.
My sentences are difficult to read today. -
Opera's always been very speedy with switching, opening, and closing tabs for me. The incredibly smooth scrolling is nice as well.
-
I enjoyed the scrolling immensely. The built in features that are extensions for FF are nice; most notably - mouse gestures. However there were a few annoyances that stuck out:
1.) My bookmarked icons would randomly disappear from my 'personal bar'.
2.) In Gmail I would try to navigate to a different area and the entire page would get highlighted.
3.) The rendering of pages was a bit off putting (I did try redraw instantly); i.e - images would display broken before they fully loaded.
4.) Google search required me to actually click the enter button at times. Not the main search but after you conduct an initial one.
These are glaring issues in my eyes. I'm not a fan of FF for it's bloaty feeling but because it renders and behaves as I'd expect; has mouse gestures and such; it's my browser of choice. At least until Chrome catches up, which will be some time still. -
Opera isn't any faster than FF for me. Pages render at the same speed. Silas just hates FF and loves Opera. lol.

I can get solid 30Mbit/s down through lan. My stupid $1.99 wireless G router can only sustain 22-23Mbit/s through wireless G.
I don't notice any difference between Internet Explorer 8 and Opera's rendering speed either. All of them load pages pretty much instant. I think they loaded too quickly to tell apart the difference thanks to my fake SSD (fast SD card on pciexpress card reader). -
If you don’t find any difference in speed that’s fine, but what are you really adding to this thread besides being a troll? Opera earned a reputation for being the fastest and most efficient for a reason, and I think the 9 and 10 releases do a good job continuing that trend. The difference is smaller than it used to be as its competitors improve, but it is still there if you look for it with an unbiased tool. -
R3P34+ 4F+3r /\/\3|-|.......... IE FTW!!!!!

A good computer can open up pretty much any web page pretty much instantly; but, if you have a bad/decent computer, opera will open pages a lot quicker.
And ever since google changed it's auto-complete search interface thing it has been necessary to press the enter button on the webpage instead of on your keyboard. -
-
I thought it was only my setup!

I'm confused. Nevermind, haha.

I love Opera. It starts so much faster. Pages refresh faster, especially ebay. It feels so much snappier. It seems to use less resources and doesn't suck up memory like a Hoover if it's kept open for days at a time like FF does. It also has a very useful option to resize images on wiiiiiide pages to fit within my current window size. The only thing I wish it had was the Google toolbar for my favorites and Ad block pro. I'd probably use it all the time if it had the Google toolbar.
Welcome to Opera 10 Beta 1
