Had same problem with an Acer and found that it was being caused by ad-ware. Ran ad ware remover and problem was resolved.

I've been running Vista Business on my laptop, and haven't had any activation problems. I have Daemon Tools on it, and use it...

I just had the same thing happen on my computer! It started by giving me a bunch of error messages about corrupt files, then when I finally got my computer to boot up normally, it now says in the lower corner that my copy of Windows is not genuine. Did you find a solution to this problem?

My problem was caused by corrupt files, and I had to reload the OS. I permanently fixed the problem by reloading XP...Microsoft was ultimately useless in correcting my problem.
What! My copy of Vista is not genuine???
