I get these "glitches" in Firefox on a fairly regular basis. Does anyone know what causes them, and how to fix the problem?
I am running Windows 10 on an XPS 15 9550.

looks like a corrupted Firefox profile to me, also, it would help if you had your system specs in your signature and finally, please tell use what graphics driver you are running, and where or not your laptop has an Intel GPU and/or a dedicated GPU

Phoenix, I just added my system info to my sig., I used the same format you are...I hope you don't mind.
The Firefox profile, do you know where I can go to grab a screenshot of my profile?
Finally, here are the video cards and drivers currently installed:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 - Driver Version 20.19.15.4390
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M - Driver Version 10.18.13.6519 -

Now, please try the following,
Go to nVIDIA Control Panel, then try to force Firefox to use the nVIDIA GPU rather than the integrated GPU
Check if it solves the issue
If it doesn't, try disabling hardware acceleration from the Firefox options, then report back
If that doesn't work still, you need to go to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\APPDATA\LOCAL\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and delete the profile there then uninstall and reinstall Firefox
Also delete the profile in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\APPDATA\ROAMING\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Finally, please tell me what add-ons you have installed in Firefox
BTW, Did you follow my Firefox recommended installation guide?

I had some text corruption in firefox a couple of weeks ago, but an cache clean fixed it temporarily, had to repeat it over a week, but i had a update a week ago and i have not seen it since, I cannot say the update fixed the problem it was most likely a consistence.

Thank YOU Phoenix, forcing Firefox to use the Nvidia GPU has completely resolved the problem. My question is, is this a "fix" or is it a workaround? Do you think I should leave it be, or uninstall and follow your "install Guide" for a clean install?

I'm a bit confused by the driver. I currently have driver version 20.19.15.4404. But when I look at the Intel website, it shows the latest driver is 15.40.22.4424. Do they use a backwards numbering system, or?

OK Gonzo... I installed the Intel "Driver Update Utility" and it did change a couple of my drivers, including the integrated GPU driver. I switched Firefox back to Intel GPU, and I'll run this for a bit and see how it works out.

I get a partial black drop down browser, the black vanishes when i move the mouse pointer over the black (only the black under the mouse point) also i get corruption with the top of the firefox window.
I can solve this problem by tuning of "hardware acceleration" in the firefox settings.
I had had this computer for a few years, and this problem has only showed in the last year, I have tried a few version of firefox, and i have done many hdd/sdd wipes and win10 reinstalls.
My graphics is an Intel HD4400 built in the CPU, I have tried all the recent Intel graphics drivers.
As i have said with H/W Acceleration disabled this problem does not happen.
thanks
John.
