Here are the experiences of the author after spending 30 days on Vista. Doesn't sound like he liked it.

And, for comparison, here is the same author's article on Linux, over the same time period.

I was going to ask why this was even relevant, but your Joe Lieberman avatar explains all.

This article appeared on slashdot, and it seems that this caused the site to be "slashdotted".

Editor's Note: The fact is that Vista is far from "unfit for any user," and this statement by the author is simply incorrect. If you read the discussion thread linked below you will find there are many Vista users that are having positive experiences. The author's experiences are his own and I think a great look into just some of the complications that can come with upgrading to Vista. Some have had worse experiences and some have had better.

Not sure why we needed to read an article from there, when there are plenty of people in these forums who have said the same thing.

Some companies hire image consultants, PR firms, and strategic influencers to help their products succeed online. I'm sure that doesn't happen here or anywhere else though. ;)

It’s easy to manipulate top blogs, just hire a PR firm

    Define manipulation

I'd hope if the things that they are e-mailing the top blogs about suck the blogs would post as such (assuming they try said product) if they don't try said product I'm not sure what the blog is worth since it doesn't really tell anything.

Also gotta love a Linux person trying to write a review on Windows. Wonder how serious the Linux community would take a review on Linux written by a Windows user?

Did you actually read the article?
This is the same guy who did an article on "using Linux for 30 days" where he installed Linux on all his machines to evaluate the usability.
If you read further, or any of his other articles, you'll see that he uses both Windows XP and Linux for his normal daily use.

As for your obviously loaded question; the real Linux community (ie, the guys responsible for actually making changes to the core OS) takes reviews of Linux by windows users very seriously.

Reviews by non-users are EXACTLY the type of experience you want to have when you are trying to make useful changes to anything.

You sound just like the fanboys you're trying to make fun of.

As a member of the Ubuntu-AU team, I take reviews from new users VERY seriously. How can we hope to increase our market share if we're only preaching to the choir?

Of course, I do dismiss reviews that shout "I can't play MP3's!" as they are just silly.

I wouldn't say silly... more just uninformed (and obsolete once Feisty comes out)

While it may be new to you, some people actually listen to input from other people. In this case, for the Linux community, "other people" means Windows users among others.

And some people might even go so far as to say that the best person to review a new OS is one who knows what the alternatives are, and what they are capable of. Rather than one who has never seen a computer before, and will be impressed by a blinking text cursor on a black screen.

Well, I meant if they didn't give it a decent try and just gave up. It's exactly the same for those people who bash Vista without actually using it at all.
