What IM Client do you use?
I myself use Digsby.
-
I use Adium. Although if I was on a Windows machine I would use MSN Messenger with an ad remove patch, and if I was on Linux I'd use Pidgin.
-
I use aim seeing as many of my friends use it.
-
Aim w/ DeadAim plugin.
Used to use Otsego. -
I started using Digsby as soon as i heard about it, too bad it probably won't be free after beta ends (read that in the forums) but i might pay or use the free version since it's so good, or i might go back to what i was using earlier, Pidgin.

Pidgin
-
Digsby, for those who don't know, is a multi-client that also integrates email and social networking. Great little program...
Darn it... I voted for the wrong thing... So if you're voting, add Digsby for me.
Thanks -
I use AIM, though Im not able to get on much. Tried MSN and hated it.
-
I use Trillian, never heard of Digsby before.
-
If you have multiple IM applications and/or multiple e-mail addresses and/or participate in social networks, Digsby is for you.
-
Since I already voted(Pidgin FTW
), what did you vote for? I'll edit the poll...
-
I'm probably one of the very few that has never used any sort of IM app.
-
Trillian all the way on Windows, Kopete on Linux.
-
I use AIM, and sometimes Yahoo, and MSN, but mostly AIM, since I'm on it all the time, heh.
I'm gonna check out Digsby right now though. =] -
Let me know if you have any questions or problems.
-
Trillian - Windows
-
iChat, Adium, and DeadAIM
-
Wow, this program is effin sweet. Bye bye AIM, hello digsby? Yes yes.
Maybe even bye bye thunderbird? idk..hmm. -
I use aim with aim ad hack.
-
Make sure you configure it to how you like, by changing the theme and such.
-
Mhmm. =] Done and done.
I have a pretty plain and simple one, pretty much just the way AIM is, because I'm so used to it. -
Glad to hear that.
-
I love the pop up replies in Digsby. When your friend IM's you, there's a little pop up in the lower left and you can reply to it...
-
I also love that as i can continue to IM my friends as i am browsing the web.
-
Yeah, def. That's one of my favorite things!
Quick question: Is there a way I can sign into one of the clients, such as yahoo, as invisible? -
Ask Calvin. I'm not too sure myself.
-
i dont get it. you can do that with any other im client too?
-

Check that out McGrady. -
I use Colloquy.
-
Yes, i do that sometimes for some annoying people i don't want to chat with. @.@ One way is to right click on the contact and go to "Stealth settings" and set what you want to look like to that contact. You can also set it near the top where you see "Available" in the scroll down menu "Invisible" is there too.
-
is that popup always on top?
-
i tried digsby but it doesnt work with my hotmail or domain email accounts. It doesnt even let me fit it my whole address in the login box!
i think ill stick to msn with my tricky add-ons -
Only when you get a message. I recommend you try it out and see if you like it, it won't damage your computer.
The latest version? You might want to post about that in their forums, they always respond to your problems immediately. -
i only use 1 IM client, that is aim. i dont use msn or others so it would be a waste
-
Digsby users - have you been able to connect at all today? I can't =[ ever since today's update
-
I've always been able to connect, but when was there an update today? Updates are announced here and auto-update should update automatically for you.
-
Yes, I know. That's what I"m saying, once it updated today I can't connect.
-
Then you might want to leave a comment about the new update troubles so they can em-mail you about it. They help you almost immediately most of the time.
-
Thanks a lot Calvin, I got it now.
Had to set stealth settings for my dad on yahoo.
XDD -
Glad to hear you got everything working how you like it, be sure to ask again if you have any more questions.
-
Ya, digsby is by far the greatest one ive used. I would be willing to donate for it. I just cant wait until they get a bit more optimization done. and ya, there was a bug that was released earlier today, it was suppose to fix a proxy problem, but instead made regular sign ins faulty. But they quickly reverted back.
-
There is a thread in their forums that asks "Where did you find out about Digsby" and I've been reading it and find it very interesting, do you guys mind posting here, or there about it?
-
Trying out Digsby. So far it's a very good im client, much more useful than trillian. I really like how it can tell me when I get email, which basically also tells me if I have stuff on facebook. I don't think I want it having direct access to my facebook page because I don't want to be constantly logged in there. Am I wrong on that? The only down side to Digsby is that it's a fairly large program for this type of application clocking in around 60 MB. Either way, I think I'll stick with Digsby.

(Gives Digsby another run.)
-
They're mainly working on bugs now but if you check their blog, they'll be working on the memory management soon, as it's in beta. Once complete, it'll have a much lower footprint.
-
I was actually talking about the amount of HD space it takes up. Just noticed the insane memory usage. This may be a program I get after it's completed, but hold off on for now. I'll see how the resource usage effects my computer.
-
Likewise, it could be for that too. As i said, it's in beta, it may be very stable but it uses up a lot of resources. If you want something that doesn't take up much then get Pidgin.

Trillian ftw!!
I like having everything in one piece.
-
OK, so I used to use Trillian for a few years, and then had issues with Google Talk, so switched to Pidgin, which I really like, but now with all the hype on Digsby, I'm testing it out. So far, I like it. One thing that I like about Pidgin that Digsby doesn't have is the psychic mode, but maybe that will come in the future. I do love the email feature of Digsby though. So far it's a keeper.
-
I use Xfire (the official AIM/WLM clients are slowware). But most of the time, I do my talking in person, or on the (cell)phone.
