Oh man, I hate talking on the phone. I find IM so much easier.

Digsby still has those same annoying, pesky problems. Lowercased names, unable to assign yourself a nickname, RAM usage. Ugh.
-
I'm going to wait until Digsby comes out of beta and stick with trillian for now.
-
-
Digsby does look interesting...
But mainly I use MSN, abit of Yahoo too, just whatever friends use since i use Web IM most of the year anyway, so it doesnt really matter. -
http://thinkofit.com/webconf/video.htm
scroll down, there lots of list IM apps and stuff (nice review there)
I try out some new apps with video chat, file transfer etc...
AIM ? not on my PC but on my T-MO DASH smartphone
AIM have about 3-5 processes running in background. I think I see aolloader.exe or similar.

For Me Miranda IM
-
i only use one 99% of the time and that is Windows Live Messenger other times i use Yahoo messenger or Gtalk. but i prefer WLM cause all my friends got it, my yahoo and gmail contacts can be added and accessed via WLM and i can do magic with that IM. Would show a few pics but im at work. I've never really heard of the others in the poll but will google later.
WHY DON'T EVERYONE SHOW A PICTURE OF THEIR IMs ESPECIALLY IF THEY PERSONALIZED IT. THAT WOULD BE KOOL
see mine in attached. that's mine at work there is not much i can do there just simple will show my personal ones when i get homeAttached Files:

I use pidgin, tried digsby but I don't like it.

Well, I hope NBR doesn't get blocked.
Ahh well, I'll just break the baricuda filter. -
I use ultra surf. ^_^
-
I used to use AIM with deadaim client but I'm using AIM 6.5 right now.
-
miranda - light and simple, for the icq network I don't need more.
-
I still believe Digsby is the best. If any mods are around, change my vote from Pidgin to Digsby.
Thanks in advance -
i actually got digsby yesterday because i mostly use msn, but i have contacts on aim and google talk and i wanted to just be able to talk to them on one messenger service. After alot of looking around i stumbled onto it and im not looking back...digsby works very very well...you can even log onto the new facebook chat service, if your into that...the only thing i noticed is that there is not video support for msn...so i may have to log on to that from time to time...but its in beta form...so hopefully they will fix that soon...
-
So for anyone using Digsby, do you know how to start a chat room, or invite multiple people to the same chat? Is that possible, or something that may come out in the final release?
-
I use Pidgin.
Tim -
I don't use any, and as per the poll, I will use "other" as it looks is the best

I primarily use AIM 6.5. Back in the days of AIM 5.9 I occasionally used Yahoo Messenger, but AIM 6.5 was miles and miles beyond 5.9. Tried Trillian once and didn't like it. Also use GTalk within Opera.
None of my friends who had MSN (which was very few to begin with) were ever on it, so I quit using it out of uselessness. Yahoo suffered from almost everyone I knew who had Yahoo also having AIM. -

Does Digsby use a lot of ram?
-
yea like 60-100 mb's depending on what acounts you have set up and if you have email and whatever. its extremely customizable though..i really like it
is it true they're going to charge a fee to use it when it comes out of beta though? -
I used Pidgin, but after seeing this thread, I love Digsby now. i would be willing to pay for full version as long as they make it worth while.
-
Yahoo Messenger, been using it since `98.
-
LOL. Wow, not to sound like an ass, but what crap thread. Yahoo and MSN aren't even in the options, yet "other" has more votes than the ones listed.
HMMMMMM. -
I currently use Miranda. I have a nice transparent glass skin for it, and I like that it is light on resources.
I have a question though. My main problem with Miranda is the inability to send or receive offline messages from AIM. Daily, my contacts send me messages while I am offline, with the expectation that I will read them once I sign on. But Miranda does not allow this, and just mentions that User X has sent an IM at *time*.
Do any of the clients discussed in this thread(pidgin, digsby, trillian, etc) support offline messaging for AIM? -
I'm pretty sure all 3 you listed have that feature, but I'm not completely sure.
-
I use AIM, MSN and Yahoo with their standard clients. I would like to use Digsby sometime though, it looks really nice.
-
Pidgin.
-
-
Live Messenger for MSN, Pidgin for everything else and sometimes for msn.
-
miranda im ftw! wish it was more developed =x
-
dont get why so many uses pidgin... sure it works.. but its big, takes alot of space on your desktop and looks like something from windows 95 :/
-
AIM Ad Hack FTW!!!

-
Just installed Digsby.
Set up my AIM, Google Talk, WLM, Yahoo, Gmail, Myspace;
Got it nicely customized.
I have been converted. This IM is extremely impressive and I'm in love with it. I love that you can send Emails out from the IM window!Tyvm NBR forums Lol.

I just installed Digsby and am impressed by how simple it is to set up everything. I think Miranda spoiled me on total customization, though. But I love that Digsby supports offline messaging. My only gripe with Digsby is in memory usage. It is currently using between 50,000KB and 70,000KB of memory. That is a ton of memory for an IM app (way more than even aim).
-
So yahoo messenger isn't as popular as I thought
-
This thread caught my attention because I basically just did a reinstall of Vista and nearly everything now is open source software
I have Pidgin, but what is the smallest size that still works great? Someone said it was fairly large compared to others, I just need one that runs ICQ/AIM. -
-
Miranda -
Amazing skinning options for matching my desktop.
No offline message support.
Light on memory.
Digsby -
Decent skinning.
Offline support, easy to setup and use.
Huge memory footprint.
Pidgin -
Terrible skinning options. Looks ugly.
Offline support.
Light memory footprint.
What IM Client do you use?
