    I saw this gadget on someones Dell XPS and was wondering if anyone can give me a link to it. (Its the one on the top right hand corner)

    That's the difference :) It doesn't! You need a gadget if you want ti to stay on the desktop. Ver 2.0 is just a program which you can run, minimize, maximize, etc.
