    I got an amazing deal for an HP photosmart c4250 including 500ml refill of black/cyan/yellow/magenta ink at a garage sale for $3.00. I hate the photosmart essential software, and was wondering what photo scanner software do you use?

    Freeware if possible.

    I find that scanning software that comes with the device itself works best. It's the post scanning manipulation of the pics or documents that is more important.

    cheers ...

    HP is known for their bloated software. While I use Adobe, MS Paint works quite well.

    ATM I'm using Paint.NET with Boltbait's plug in pack, it does the job but I'm looking for a certain feature. MS paint is also alright, but I prefer Paint.NET over it.

    VueScan seems like a perfect candidate, but I don't have money to purchase it.

    I scan 5 pictures at a time, but I need a software that can multi crop individual pictures and save them in individual files. The HP Photosmart essential does this perfectly, but it comes with bloatware that you can't opt out of during installation.

    ::EDIT::
    ======
    I decided to cave in and download photosmart essentials. I thought I was very thorough during installations, but HP decided to hide the advance options in a very discreet manner; the thing you have to click wasn't marked in anyway, it looked just like anyother text that everyone skips over. DAMN YOU HP!!!
