I have been using Vista on my laptop for quite some time now. I saw posts on this board and everyone seemed to be pleased with Vista even though I hit snags with it in the past and was very reluctant to use it. I decided to ignore my bad luck and forced myself to like it. I even told myself, if they have no problem, I won't have either.
My laptop has the following.
1. Windows Vista Business 32 +SP1 +Up to date
2. Office 2007 + every update
3. Adobe CS3 Master+every update
4. Cyberlink DVD Suite+every update
5. Skype+latest version
6. MSN Live+latest versuion
7. Nokia PC Suite+latest version
8. Nero 9 Full
9. SAV 10.2 VISTA 32
10. Creative X-Fi Software (up to date)
Venue: London slideshow @ HSBC
Issues:
1. Preparing Desktop, use profile could not be loaded.
2. After reboot, user profile loaded with a bug and Explorer Has Stopped responding. Reboot, create new user name, load slideshow.
Note:the night before, it worked fine. I shut the thing down, put it in my bag and turned it on in the morning. Did not touch it.
Back home, 2 days, fresh reinstall laptop was working top notch.
Venue: Paris slideshow @ BNP Paribas
Issues: Laptop won't boot. Continuous loop at startup. This was 1 day after I reinstalled the whole thing. When it finally booted, Explorer has stopped working over and over.
Venue: @home, finished reinstalling everything again. I wanted to boot up, profile could not be loaded. I booted safe mode /sfc scannow and no problems have been found.
As my title says, what am I doing wrong??
-
It sounds like a damaged OS install or driver install to me, are your disks still in good condition?
-
I know I has BSOD because Windows update damaged a camer driver.
It could be anything - but lets check this:
Your slideshow, what software is it? Office 2007??
Maybe reinstal your slideshow software after all updates. I doubt its the problem, but Windows Update has (on my computer) damaged drivers. -
How do I check, if windows has damaged drivers? I reinstalled Office 2007 every time I formatted my disk. In the past month I installed Vista 7 times because of the user profile error and explorer snag.
No issues in my hardware manager. My issues appear from one shutdown to a turn on. As I mentioned, I look over my slides, turn it off, go to my venue, turn it on, bang issue.Attached Files:

Well, Office 2007 doesn't use drivers...
Is that what you are using for your presentation??
If you do:
Marcros in the powerpoint?
Maybe try connecting to a TV or projector at home... -

Let me know how it goes. -

There is another similar error, not sure which one is yours, here is the other related tutorial.

Do you have all of the required notebook drivers and system software installed?

How to Fix the Error "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile." in Vista
This is one of the errors. Fresh Vista install with all the software I mentioned. The message can appear just after a few days or a week later. I do not install things and I do not understand what keeps corrupting my profile. -

You still haven't mentioned if your drive is OK.
Run an elevated command prompt and run a chkdsk /f
Reboot and then check event manager for the results. If you have bad sectors your drive is failing.
Also, download HDtune and check for SMART errors -

-
L.E: Using the Error scan option. It will take some time. 60 MB/s
stewie, will run memtest too....again. -
Update on the situation:
Windows has not found any bad sectors. HD Tune PRO hasn't either.
Will run MEMTEST soon for 4 hours. I need to finish a project beforehand. HDD, is okay.It started at 60 MB/s and towards the end it dropped badly.

Check this thread there are several solution for this problem, I cannot tell you which one will eventually work for you because obviously it really depends of the situation...

One question, did you go through and expand all of the sections of Device Manager. I'm asking this because it won't show the bangs on the first layer, most of the time you'll only see them when "drill deeper."
Here's my device manager window as an example-one component has an error, but it's not worth my time to fix, LOL.
Device Manager-all sections collapsed:

I know my way around PCs. I am both an IT engineer and an Aero graduate. So, when I say there are no problems, I mean it.

I just read too much into the screenshots, tis all

2 hours into memtest and no issues. Any other advice?

Thanks mate, writing down. As I previously mentioned in my posts, this thing is random. For the moment the user works. Tomorrow might not, and then I will try this approach. Unfortunately, if a fresh install does not get rid of the problem, I doubt this will. I am trying to identify the cause of this error. What do I do about the explorer one?
1. HDD okay
2. RAM okay -
but now after searching thru all my 1000's of BM i got it , so i posted the link instead my stupid answers -
Well...it is rather frustrating. I have my lappy here running memtest like crazy, I am reading on other boards people having similar issues like mine and not finding a proper solution. It is puzzling. You turn it on, it works. You turn it on the next day, you get cannot load desktop errors, you reboot, it gets stuck in a loop, and you did not touch the OS
.
I take care of this thing. I don't pay attention to my girl the way I pay to my U6.
Fresh OS install, bluetooth connection (using Nokia PC Suite) with my E90, browse the phone with explorer, crash boom bang. It happened just 3 hours ago!!! I put windows yesterday.
-
You checked my link in my previous post?
-
it happens when user profile gets corrupted , I use N95 primarily with my Vista Ultimate x64 with no issues
-
Yes I checked everything in here. As soon as the user name issue reappears I will apply them. It works so, don't fix it

)
Are you using the Latest Nsuite / Nokia PC Suite ? -
Everything is up to date and latest version
.

OMFG! This is unbelievable!!!! I spent most of my night reinstalling Vista because I wanted to update my CS3 to CS4. Great...
1. Vista Business 32 +Sp1 up to date
2. Office 2007 Sp1 +up to date
3. Adobe CS4 Master Collection up to date
4. Creative XFI Notebook up to date
5. Nokia PC Suite up to date
Laptop ran perfectly, fine, and I was very pleased with the speed.
6. (this morning I installed NERO 9 latest version for Vista 32) and on reboot....
....after finger scan, no desktop, blank screen and a mouse.
Q: Did you click on the desktop to activate show icons?
A: Yes I did, the mouse was not responding.
Q: Did you ctrl+alt del to pop the task manager and run explorer.exe?
A: Yes I did, many times, nothing was showing up, except a lonely mouse.
Q: Did you boot in safe mode?
A: Yes I did and I added "explorer.exe" to the shell manualy for logon using regedit.
Q: Did you try sfc /scannow in safe mode as admin?
A: Yes I did, integrity check was perfect.
Q: What are you doing wrong?
A: F*** I know, Vista seems to work for everyone except me.
Where did I put that XP+Sp3 disk? -
Nero 9 - I'm on Nero 8 (was latest this summer I believe)
You know:
This seems like a messed up OS to me... -
Nero 9 a 2.4 GB suite. The guys from AHEAD are out of their minds!!! Yeah, the os got screwed after I put NERO for no reason.
-
Maybe you should ask them for some compensation?
-
I already spoke to support. They blame it on Vista.
-
Well, does it say Vista compatible on the box? If it does - maybe threaten legal action... although I fear the EULA will say they are not responsible for any damages caused by their software...
What am I doing wrong?
