Nothing. Windows 10 easily has the best game support. OS X is awful and Linux is still far behind. Dropping to an older Windows will lose DX12.

Glad I am not a gamer and that for my grandchildren there will always be consoles.

Windows 10 the best system for gaming, but a lot more depends on the graphics card, CPU, RAM. Here we must consider all these factors to get pleasure from the games.

For non-DX12 titles, Windows 7 all the way. Still the best compatibility with older games and mods/3rd party apps, and the ability to disable Aero/DWM to save VRAM and game in windowed/borderless without forced triple buffering. See W10 AU which broke many older titles (most notably Bethesda's) for months on newer Nvidia drivers.

You still don't have to pay for W10 tho, I heard gatherosstate.exe still works. ;)

If it has to be Windows 10 - I would get Windows 10 Pro that gives you more options.

I'm still running 8.1 Pro. I have been tempted to upgrade to Win 10 Pro but don't want to break what's not broken and I have some personal issues with Win 10. But can someone tell me what I am currently missing out on with Win 10 and DX12 based on my PC specs.

Here's a review of DX differences..
It's not to hard to search online to see the explanations of the difference.

Seriously dude!! I know how to search. I wasn't looking for the technical explanation. I already know that. I was looking for first hand real life experiences from someone who has upgraded from 7 or 8.1 and what improvements they have seen. I've been here long enough and contributed enough to not deserve a smart ass response. Either way, thanks for the link.

Running Windows 10x64 Pro without problems and installed my the very same custom software that were installed on Windows 7x64 Ult Sp1 and they run just fine. I did customize and get rid of "Tiles" and now it looks like Windows 7 Desktop.

You're not missing out on much, there's benchmark for DX12 and most of the results are negligible from what I've seen on LinusTechTips over Vulkan.

Windows 7 or 8.1 will be fine. Time in and Time out we find it hard to believe that OS barely affects performance on games probably unless you're playing MMOs that are CPU-intensive.

That's what I thought I had heard, no real benefit yet. I will hold off a while longer. Maybe when the next update comes out in a month or so and gives us a little more control over updates I will make the move to 10. Thanks for replying.

They are going to provide the option to "Pause" or delay updates for up to 35 days as long as they are not critical security updates. So driver updates and things like that will be able to be postponed while we let the unsuspecting general public be the guinea pigs.

They need to allow forced driver updates to stop all together! If it is not a security risk or system issue then it has no need for update.

They need to stop all forced updates. I don't care about how it's better for the collective for everyone to be updated. Stop forcing crap down our throats.
