and most importantly how to I fix it?

I uninstalled a bunch of older versions of Java and a couple of codecs which I thought were not being used. (Dscaler and I don't remember what esle)

Now when I use Firefox images are higher pixelated and pages are not displaying properly. Images are bigger than before. It's as if the display resolution of my Thinkpad has been lowered but if i check display properties nothing has changed.

I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it to no avail.

    System restore wasn't turned on.

I am running Windows XP Pro with all the latest patches and Lenovo updates for a T42.

Does anyone know what I did and how to fix it?

Have you tried reinstalling your graphics driver? Just a thought. And perhaps running CCleaner registry repair tool?

You might have lost a shared dll file when you uninstalled things. As Wu Jen suggested I'd try reinstalling your graphics drivers and see if that helps.

When uninstalling and the alert saying do you want to uninstall this file it may be shared etc (can't remember the exact wording).. I always say no.. it might mean I have a messier computer but I've hit similar problems in the past where uninstalling one thing has led to something else stopping working.

I figured it out. It turns out that the ImageZoom add in I had went haywire and set the default for all page images to 150%.

I set it to 100% and all is good.

    Those beta add-ins are killer.
