I've been searching the internet for the past week or two to find explanations of what EnableBootTrace and BaseTime keys mean and do. They're found in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters and a few other ControlSets too.
Where are we supposed to look to find explanations of registry keys if searching the microsoft help or knowledge base brings up absolutely nothing? There's a few occurrances of people discussing whether to enable or disable one of them but I'd really like to know what it actually does or mean; both keys.

I had a discussion with a member of the Microsoft Windows Development team before. Let me see if I can remember....
EnableBootTrace kept a log of what drivers and applications were loaded at start up.
Edit: I ran into this when I had problems with the Microsoft Performance Analyzer. The Performance Analyzer changes this value then does a reboot and then changes it back. The Analysis is done based on the Trace. -
ok so BootTrace is for that "startup logging & tracing" and the EnableBootTrace is the key/flag that turns the feature on or off. Thanks, now to find out what BaseTime is for...
