Am I allowed to dislike the boot up sounds for Vista...? o_O

Seriously, I used to mute my old laptop at startup because of that annoying little sound(the one before the login screen and the one after) :p

Arguably XP doesn't really have much better of a boot up sound >.>

You can disable these sounds in the Sound panel.

Totally false. The only "compatability" issues were with hardware manufacturers who refused to update THEIR drivers, because their marketing departments saw an opportunity to force you to buy new hardware. There are more OS developers supporting Vista than XP. Vista has proven to be more stable. It runs fine on integrated graphics cards on any laptop purchased new in the past two years.

I hate how is is much more stable for me than XP and I REALLY hate how its native 64 bit uses my 4GB of RAM and my 512MB f vRAM completely and not just says it does.

Oh I forgot what I hate the most! The fact that it pre-loads your programs into the RAM according to a schedule that it makes from your usage so things are ready to be used quickly when you normally use them.

Other small things I hate a lot is how it actually makes full use of multi-core computers and the networking is so easy now its not like it was with XP where it was a pain in the and made you have to grind through everything.

Oh the sleek Aero interface is SO much worse than the XP look!

LOL. You got that right. And out of sheer laziness I've never unsubscribed from this thread and get email notifications about it all the time. In fact, THAT'S what I hate about Vista...all of the whining about it. Vista itself is just fine.

I predict this thread will still be going on long after Windows 8 is released.

oook... sooo What of you hate most about Windows 7?
I hate the fact that when you maximize a window the borders and taskbar doesn't get opaque... so if you have a transition background or animated one, you keep thinking that Windows wants your attention.

Ok Next... What do you hate about Windows 8?
It's not out yet! IT SUUUUUCCKKKS

AGREE I couldn't get TuRBO TAx to work on Vista64, can't use my laserjet printer since they never made compatible drivers, along with a few other
wireless apps that aren't vista compat.

Dd you say HP laserjet drivers?
If you have the 1012 series, check HP website they recently release them for Vista 64-bit (about TIME). If not, check either way, they might have added it.

You can also look for compatible drivers. In my case I know that the LaserJet 1015 Vista drivers works with my 1012 printer. Intresting enough is that that HP locked down (encrypted) the drivers and made the setup only decrypt the drivers if it detects the 1015 drivers. When I call HP tech support, they tried to sell me the 1015 printer. Soooo, what I did is look inside Vista for drivers, and I found the laserJet 1015 drivers. I used those and it worked fine.

I love to use Vista than XP . More safe and more feature. i always get CTD on XP with some funny things . And Vista would not . That is the reason, why i love Vista.
those ppl hate to use vista . because of some of their computer only have 1GB ram or less ...and so on. well i would say why dont you get a new computer with current tech.
why you try to run vista in a machine is already 10 years old ??

I'm a computer instructor at a technical college. I have no problem at all with Vista on my Compaq laptop. Everything works just fine. Removing all of the crapola software helps a bit. But I just do a clean installation of Vista using the old "Vista Anytime Upgrade" DVD which is no longer available (but I have a copy). I should note that I use "PortableApps" for everything now. There isn't a single non-windows program (or any of my data files) on my hard drive. The only thing on my hard drive is Vista. That's it!
