I just bought a new laptop with a 120gb hard drive 2gb of ram. I have partioned the hard drive into 4 different partitions for work use.
Do you think it is a waste of 2gb of hard drive use by having hibernation enabled. It takes up 2gb of drive C: when i have it enabled. What is your opinion on this.
A - keep hibernation enabled
B - disable it and gain the 2gb of space back on drive C:
thanks in advance

That is a question you will have to answer yourself. Do you hibernate the machine or do you always shut it down? Personally I use hibernate a lot. It is a bit quicker than a cold boot and I can leave work in progress with several apps open.

Yeah i know, sorry, i don't hibernate alot as i like to start my machine fresh each time... but it's nice to have the option there... i still can't decide what to do... someone choose for me
please

if you truly wish to be malleable, then i suggest disabling it and gaining that extra 2 gigs on your HDD because 120 Gb isnt that much and it will fill up fast.

Unless/until you have a need for that space, I'd say leave it. You'll never know if you find hiberation useful if you disable it right away, and you always can later if you decide it's not useful for you.
I find hiberation useful for saving power over standby while not having as long a reboot time as a full shut down. Basically a good compromise between the two when on battery.
It's also good for when your battery gets very low and your computer needs to shut down so it doesn't run out of power (and lose data). You could probably tell it to shut down instead, but that would lose data, or you could tell it to standby, but if you didn't reach a power outlet before it hit 0% you'd lose data. Hibernation is a good way to avoid loss of data there. -
Ok cool, thanks for the replies... hibernation is staying... thanks
What do you think???
