Been thinking about getting this and I dont really know what it allows you to do, I have heard alot about it though. Can you use it to make it so that you dont have to use a game disc to be able to play video games on a computer?

yes, u need to rip a disc image to your HD, create a virturl drive (in a120), mount the image (in a120), and voila, you're good to go.

have you been to the website to read up on what it allows you to do?

daemon tools will let you create up to 4 virtual drives and mount images to those drives. it won't let you rip discs to your HD or burn, but there are plenty of other free apps that will do that for you.

alcohol is not free. it will let you create many more than 4 virtual drives and mount images to all of them. it will also rip and burn. it's more of a one stop shop.

however, if $ is an issue, daemon tools is just fine in conjuction with another tool that will rip a disc. i actually wouldn't pay for a120 because it doesn't seem to burn individual files to a dvdr, only images.

I've used both and prefer Deamon-Tools (because it's actually better regardless of what your friends think). But use whatever the hell you want, obviouslly our opinion doesn't mean much after the way you rudely shut Doobie's comments down. If you want to know how a program works and what it does, why don't you just go to the developers home page?

Vindicated, please respect all users. Just because he doesn't want to use Deamon, there is no reason to jump down his throat. Anymore posts like this and they will be deleted automatically. We are here to help all users and all posts related to computer problems, not just software that you support.

Whoa, where did I "rudely" respond to anyone, I even thanked them both for the info if you bothered to read all of my one sentence reply. And I didnt get the idea that it was better from friends, it was on cnet as the best out of all of them in that category. I ve been to their webpage but it doesnt exactly explain what i was looking for, thats why i posted here. Sheesh, get over yourself pal.

Alcohol also has a free version, appropriately named 52%. It has the bulk of the functionality of the regular version.
