I'm assisting a disabled veteran to configure a home computer system to work with his principle hobby; he's a guitar player and wants to get into doing some living room recording and mixing. We don't have a clue as to good software for this purpose... any suggestions.
    Thanks.

I've heard Cubase is an extremely powerfull music production tool, but i've also heard it's extremely complex so it might not be suitable for someone getting started. I have a guitarist friend who swears by a program called Fruity Loops, you might want to check that out instead.

    hope that's of some help...

I wouldnt consider myself a begginer, but I'm no professional either. I have done some home recording, and I used Adobe Audition 1.5. Its a professional Studio i think, and it has lots of options, but its fairly simple to use. I just used trial and error and got some basic recording done. Play around with it, and you'll be able to add some effects too.

My husband bought a Sony ACID Music Studio for music recording and mixing. Besides doing effects, it includes 1,700 music loops, with his Fender G-DEC, he can practise guitar just like playing Karaoke. I think the $69.99 is worth the money.
