    On my add/remove programs list I have two programs labeled "J2SE Runtime Enviornment 5.0 Update 6", and a second "J2SE Runtime Enviornment 5.0 Update 9"

    What are these programs and do I need both?

    It lets you run Java applications, yes.

    yeah I would say that you need both to run java applets on certain websites. However, I refuse to install it b/c I dont like how its always running.
