No you cannot sell it, it's tied to your laptop.

An OEM disc will only recognize and install on the specific brand your computer came from.

A Dell OEM disc will only work on Dells, same for HP, Acer, etc.

you can't legally sell ANY microsoft software ... it says so on the end user agreement.

there IS a loophole however... if you haven't opened the cd and or booklet containg the user agreement and install dvd you can't agree to it... so... technically you can sell it.... but it is still tied to the laptop you bought... so IF you haven't opened that either you CAN sell the whole lot.

You still can't, without selling the laptop with it.

It's illegal. And the disc you have is probably not legit either.

I have said it before, Vista OEM can be installed on other computers as well (one at a time), as long as you activate by phone.

There are 2 types of OEMs disk.

You have the one that comes pre-installed with computers, wich is tied to your laptop and you can't really do anythng with it. This one is more of a Recovery disk...

And there is the standard OEM, that you can buy in some stores. Although they aren't supposed to because it's tied to the motherboard, the phone activation will usually activate it anyway.

In you're cased you used the Dell OEM one, wich is pre-activated with your cd-key....

The point is, these kinds of threads don't belong on NBR. And quite frankly, I'm getting tired of seeing them all the time here.

Not all the time, once in a while. Utilizing your OEM copy on another computer (one computer at a time in legal terms) is not illegal. You can easily activate by phone. Usually OEM copies are only sold with motherboards.

Any disc that contains a list of 18 notebooks that you can choose from to get activated is not legal. Where did you get this disc? Download? Buy on the street corner?

In any case, you cannot sell it.

Not to mention Vista has some of the most strict DRM-ing built in.
