I'm trying to do a Install REPAIR on a laptop running XP Pro. I type "R" to enter the repair console and it then comes up with an Administrator Password ?

I did the XP install on this HD not long ago and did NOT set any Admin Password.

When I simply hit Enter at the Prompt, I get thrown into a DOS Prompt C:Windows/

Where do I go from here ????

Now you can enter commands as the administrator on the Windows installation found on the volume C:!

There's a difference between a "repair install", and the "recovery console", on windows XP. What you're doing is going into the recovery console, when it "dumps you at command line", that's actually meaning you've successfully logged in to that installation of windows. Now you can go about formatting and fdisk'ing and whatever you feel like doing :p
I think you need to actually let the installer progress further if you want to do a repair install.

    Ok....... I didn't realize that.

I want to do a repair install. I don't want to reformat, FDISK or any of that.

    THank you!

Its going to be the admins logon password, unless you have no password required to log on, then it should be blank.
