I don't care whether it was free of paid, I don't mind paying for a quality program

I use FileZilla currently but I noticed that every once in a while I have to reconnect as it loses the connection after uploading/downloading many files or leaving it idle for a while. I am not a big fan of its interface either?

    Any other suggestion guys?

    Thanks

Filezilla can be as sophisticated as you want it to be, or as simple as the FTP protocol itself. It has a great forum, so if you're not seeing options/GUI that you like, that would be the place for it. This subject in particular has been brought up countlessly, and their mods answer it definitively and close the thread, so no need to waste time wading through threads for the answer.

As for the connection/sitting idle, that is something either on your end or the server end. ON my dialup machine, Filezilla disconnects after 5 minutes of inactivity. On cable, it stays connected indefinitely, just click another folder/path and it'll show it - no 'reconnect' necessary.

Its 'site manager' for login info is also great. And the recursive file search extension is lightning fast. I really think you need to tweak your existing install or ask for help on the forum, because it doesn't get much better than this.

WinSCP is quiet good, and that what' I use these days.

Before, I was using WS_FTP, which was also good for me... Cheers.

Not only is the UI way better than FileZilla, it's a night and day difference. The program nevers disconnects errenously where I would have to reconnect to upload some files...., and its much faster in performing all actions

I have set Notepad ++ as the default editor in the options,

But when I try to edit an HTML file on my FTP server, it opens it in FireFox...

do you know how to make Notepad ++ also be the default editor for HTML files?

if your a firefox user, i recommend fireFTP. ya, its a ftp program that runs within firefox but its simple and works great. you could also just create a shortcut to launch it without having to startup the browser first.
