I should probably uncheck it (right?), but does anyone know what it is or where it came from?

I wouldn't disable it out of hand. Probably something as simple as a screwed up registry entry for a harmless app. To find out what it is, look to see where it is located in the "Location" field. Then fire up regedit and navigate to that folder, and you should find an app listed there with nothing in the "Data" field on the right. That's the one you're looking for. I have one when I run msconfig, and when I tracked it down it turned out to be my Steam app.

I usually just get rid of it myself which probably isn't very sound advice.

I noticed you have a dell, I too had that on my E1405 and it was after a clean install of windows and I had only installed like 3 things. Not sure what it was but the only way I was able to remove it was use system mechaninc 6.0 trial. It didn't seem to break anything.

Thanks guy for the replies. It probably is not serious I suppose.

Howardpm: yep, I have a Dell, and an e1405 like you.

You can use regedit to navigate to HKLM\...\Run, and then you can simply delete the odd registry key. That's how I removed it.

You have quite a few things starting up with Windows. I would uncheck most of them :)
