.Vista gave me 4.8, Win7 gives me 3.0, same hardware except double the RAM with Win7. But you know, there some major flaws with this. For example:
*I have the Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz, 4 MB L2, 800 FSB). It scores 5.5 on the WEI. Tabbed Out and Whizzo have the T9300 (2.5 GHz, 6 MB L2, 800 FSB). They get 5.4 on the WEI. It supposedly records calculations per second. Please explain how my slower processor is faster???
*My 8600M GT scores 4.7 in the Gaming Graphics category (it was slightly better with Vista, but not much). SSDVaio's 9300M GS, which is approximately equal to the 8400M GT, scores a 5.1. But you aren't going to get anywhere near as good of graphics performance with the 9300M GS.
Not to mention that a 9300M GS is very nearly as good as an 8800 GTX, if you go by WEI.
*My 4 GB of DDR2-667 MHz gets 5.5 instead of the 5.1 the other two posters have posted! No, it's not CAS 4, its even Kingston, the exact same brand Whizzo has.
*Did I mention my hard drive score fell by more than 33%? And it certainly didn't get 33% slower.
So yeah, this is why you should take this benchmark with a grain of salt. All it takes is four samples from it and knowledge of the actual relative performance of the hardware that WEI indexed, and you'll see that what it says usually makes no sense whatsoever.
Come to think of it, this is one feature that they really ought to remove from Windows 7. Either that or make it far more accurate in reflecting actual performance (and how about making the amount of memory count for something, too?). -
wei is a very poor benchmark, however there are some flaws in your argument.
1)
The reason your cpu may have scored higher is because you may have a different northbridge. The CPU benchmark tests how fast your cpu can communicate with other hardware in your computer, and so is affected by the northbridge (which connects for example the ram and the cpu).
2+3)
Again the northbridge can affect ram and graphics score.
4)
This is expected the wei in w7 is different as it stretches vista's wei from 5.9 to 7.9.... so your hardware should get a lower wei.
but yes i do agree wei is not the most definitive benchmark tool... go for pcmark, 3dmark, or even passmark if u want to benchmark your lappy,

After a W7 reinstall I have 2.9. My HDD dropped there from 5.3 in Vista
.

WEI is a useless way to measure your system performance, If you want a real benchmark use 3D Mark (for graphics) PC Mark, Super PI or similar benchmark for CPU and other components.
Here is mine :

I get a 2.4 from Vista, 2.0 from W7 with the same hardware below
Compaq V5000
Sempron 3300+ @ 2.0Ghz
2GB DDR333 ram
120GB 5400 HDD
shared X200M IGP -
WEI is unreliable and innacurate. I think a lot of people still use it because it's easier to obtain than a full benchmark like 3dMark 06 or Vantage. Oh well, here's mine.

Hi everyone i'm using OS 7 64 bit and i don't know why but i got a 1.0 for graphics and 1.0 for gaming graphics? I installed the driver version 7.15.11.7644
Here are the rest of the scores, processor 6.0 - memory 5.9 - primary hard disk 5.7
My specs: XPS M1530 T8300 2.4ghz - 4GB DDR2 - [email protected] RPM - 256MB Nvidia 8600GT
Also where can i get the drivers for the webcam and fingerprint bc i download the drivers but i was unable to install it perhaps it's not compatible so could someone help me out thanks -
I got a 4.0

Not that these scores mean a thing.
Laptop- 3.5
Desktop- 5.0 -
Laptop--3.8 (no gaming, just folding + office-type work)
Desktop--5.9 (specs in sig) -
Dumb question because i THINK you just said what i'm asking but for clarification:
So scoring a 3.5 on a machine running Vista is NOT comparable to a different machine running Win 7 and scoring 3.5? Is the one running Win 7 and achieving the same score is most likely a better performer? (And more than likely if you were to install Win 7 on the one running Vista it would probably score lower like high 2's?)
(i think i confused myself MORE with that question so if i get a yes answer i will be like, ok yes what? lol...hopefully someone will understand what it is i THINK i am asking -
I got 4.7 from W7. It dropped from 5.4 when I had W/Vista. I upgraded the Ram and HD but I doubt that will change anything since it's based on the lowest component.

I have noticed that the Aero score seems to particularly like higher clocked cards, my 3650's score went up a fair bit after overclocking it to 725/575, from it's default 600/500. The reason my 8600 GTS is so close to the gaming score is because the 8600 GTS has some pretty high clocks compared to the majority of mobile cards. -

Wow, you guys have great scores. And the best thing is, they can be improved by upgrading components that are easily changed. Unlike my score which is tied to my mediocre Graphics: 4.7, that is locked in.
Incidentally, what program do you use to get the screen upload? -
You can use Windows Snipping Tool to save as a jpg.
CPU 4.7, RAM 4.8, Graphics 3.5, Gaming Graphics 3.1, Primary Hard Disk 7.1 are my scores for my x61s. -
Here is mine, I get 5.7 which perversely is higher than my desktop, I get 7.4 on all on the desktop apart from the HDD which is a measly 5.4!

And I use either Photobucket or Imageshack. Or alternatively you can use the forums own uploader, but that will only allow an image about 589KB big.
As you can see, overclocking does help a little bit:
Core at 600, Memory at 500.
Core at 725, Memory at 575.
Gained 0.3 points just from that, in Aero, and gained another 0.1 in gaming. That's my laptop BTW. -
It would be nice if the forum had an option when replying, to upload the pics directly to imageshack... I know some forums have that.

I use Vista, and max score you can get there is 5,9. Some "older" nVidia cards gets higher score then mine 9800M GTX but I realy don't care. It is WEI -
Yea, SSD was my next upgrade. Never got around to it thought. Will do it on the next M17X though.
