What is your favorite internet browser? (2018-2019)

For some reason, Chrome has been dropping frames like crazy when playing 60 fps videos on YouTube. Doesn't matter what variant of a Chromium-based browser I use. It's not as noticeable on the MacBook Pro I use from work, but on my Asus GA502 and Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, it's been quite bad. Firefox seems to work much better in this regard. Instead of dozens to hundreds of frames dropped over the course of a video, it's usually just one or two. It's a good thing Firefox has gotten much faster over its last several revisions, or else I wouldn't be quite sure what to do as I don't want to outright disable high-frame rate content.

 

I have been using Brave for at least 6 months.

But on the fence about trying out Edge or going back to Firefox.

I hear Firefox has gotten a lot faster and less resource intensive. I have also heard about great load times on edge.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Strange thing is recently I noticed similar things too - Chromes having playback issues while Firefox is working flawlessly.
I've been using Chrome for years but it appears Firefox has caught up and it might be time to make a switch. What a strange times

 

The new Edge is crazy fast, but I don't like that it syncs with your Microsoft account instead of a Google one. Plus, it still suffers from the frame dropping issue when playing high framerate content on YouTube that other Chromium derivatives have of late.

Firefox has improved by leaps and bounds over the last 6-12 months. Chrome still feels more responsive overall, but the difference is far less noticeable.

 

Chrome doesn't like you using an ad blocker....googles main gig is ads.
Firefox wants you to use an ad blocker.
'nuff said.

Try it with firefox....all of a sudden those pesky little things will no longer be pesky.
You won't notice anything is wrong until you switch then things are like ..."ohhhh".
I used to swear by chrome, not anymore.

 

Really? Is Firefox good? Oh wait, I'm the oldest Firefox fanboy who ditched it when it became a POS with its crappy interface and telemetry. I know Firefox inside out buddy:

This thread is from 2018 (how time flies) - you might want to start a new one and update the choices to include newer browsers, like Brave, etc. Do you want to do that and we will close this one?

2) Can you and other users suggest if I've missed any browser?

3) I will create a new thread shortly and once I do I will report this one to be closed. We need a new 2020 - 2021 poll to get new votes.

 

Why? The good posts about browser features /browsers advantage should be migrated into a new thread. Or just clean up the thread.

 

People's preferences/usage change over time so polls like these need to a refresh every now and then, even if the poll choices don't change much.

Create the new thread when you are ready, link it here and tag me, I'll take care of closing/redirecting.
