I have an HP Pavillion dv 1000.

I want to uncheck in MSConfig programs that do not need to be constantly running in the background.

I've attached 2 screenshots of what is currently checked. The list overlaps from 1 to 2.

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Justitia is asking for startup programs, not service configurations nikeseven.
However, is it just me or are those screenshot same?

Yes. That is right. Do not touch the services if you're not sure what they are about (I mean for the OP). Just stick with turning off things with msconfig. Alternatively, you can also try disabling the 'run at startup' kind of settings in the program' that you see are running at start up.

As for the screenshot', they are the same.. so it's not just you. May be the OP would like to check on that.. ;)

IMJPMIG.exe (first entry in your screenshot):
    > So if you aren't using asian characters, you can turn it off, i guess.

Tintsetp (second entry): apparently belongs to microsoft language support.. and I have read that it is better to let it be, unless it's causing some problems..

igfxtray.exe allows you access to intel graphics configuration. And I have seen that it is non-essential. so may be you can turn it off

hkcmd is for intel graphics hotkeys.. if you don't use those hotkey's,
igfxpers.exe is again non-essential, and is related to providing additional configuration options to graphics...

chdaudpropshortcut >> concern's audio properties, and mostly comes preinstalled with hp comp's.. and apparently it is 'required' to run at startup. I am not sure about this.

syntpenh > for synaptics touchpad. just let it be. I think it's important

    cpqset >
    QPservice >
    > apparently whether you want it run at startup or not, depends on the user!!!

    hp wireless assistant >
    > same as above

eabservr > manages easy access buttons control panel. apparently, you need this for the easy access keys to work.

    Cheers...

Seems like none of the are essential to the OS.

I would go even further, saying that this BlackViper stuff is probably among the single most destructive sets of instructions on the web, everywhere. I don't even want to think about the amount of grief those "tweaks" are causing to people, for absolutely no tangible benefit whatsoever...

You show me somebody blindly recommending the BlackViper site to a poster, and I'll show you a clueless fiddler.

LOL, I have most of the Services disabled, but I've know what I need and what I not ever should disable. I've been in to this for ages. So worry from my side. To me the biggest thing in this is my ThinkPad, which I mainly use for school and as-my-portable-laptop. It is running on a SSD drive, and in extreame powersaver mode it is fully booted in maximum 7 seconds. At this point I can just start IE or word and not a single 'lag' will occure.

I have seen trough BlackViper long time ago, I've actually have my own ppx with services and description, in Turkish, I have never published it to internet tou...

Well, Blackviper is a good site, if you know what you are doing. Else, do not do anything on the services.

Having said that, there are "safe" settings in blackviper with extensive instructions about what each service is...

I have used Blackviper' for a long time now, to know, learn and set-up the services on XP, Vista and now with Windows 7, and I have never had a problem.

But again, for the sake of repeating: I knew what I was doing with help from blackviper or anything with Services. Those, who aren't aware of what the services are about, DO NOT MESS WITH THEM.

I know what you are saying, too many folks use it without any understanding of what the info really is there. But as fonduekid said, if you DO make an effort to understand what is there it is a wealth of information.

The main thing I have used it for is sorting out a bunch of unknown services when trying to clean up "messes" on my client's machines.

    That... and that.

To the OP (who is kinda gone missing, btw) and other' in similar situation, wondering what to turn off: Just stick with msconfig and don't get carried away with the services. If you still wan't to mess with your system, read through blackviper at least 5 times over (I did!!), as well as google extensively, make a backup of the full system, registry etc (as one would normally do before messing with Windows) and then go have fun.

    Cheers.
