Okay, well I'm typing this on my brand new W3J refresh that i just received this morning. I want to keep her as problem free as possible so I want to know what sort of software I should install. I have Mcaffee antivirus on my desktop and its a pain in the ass. When i booted up this comp it prompted me to install Norton Internet security. Should I? Also, when I go to Bestbuy today, what sort of software do I need? Anti-Virus? spyware-blocker? all that junk? I'd prefer if there were 2 or maybe three programs that could do it all, instead of running 6 things in the systray. Educate me plz ^_^

dont go with norton - its a resource hog. IMHO you need:

    Antivirus: AVG Free - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

    Firewall: Zonealarm - http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conte...st_za.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en&lid=nav_za

    Antispyware: Spybot Search & destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

    Ad-aware - http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

Just be sure to scan regularly or those program will be useless if they are just sitting on your HD doing nothing.

Also get Spyware Blaster - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

and if you want an extra level of protection get Windows Defender for real-time protection from spyware

    http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Hope that helps, there really no need to buy any software as everything ive mentioned is absolutely free.

Things that run in systray - AVG, Zonealarm and Defender.
Things that dont - AdAware, Spybot & Spyware Blaster

In addition, ditch MS Internet explorer for Firefox or Opera and ditch Outlook Express for Mozilla's Thunderbird.
