Hi. I'm making a website to collect Windows Experience Index Scores for as many models of laptop as I can find. It would be great if you could let me know your Windows Experience Indexes along with your model so I could start my list. I'm only collecting Dell laptops to begin with so I posted in here first.
I know Dell's a bit more complicated than most because of the personalisations, so please mention if you have made any upgrades to the model, like processor, RAM or graphics card.
I'll start you off with mine:
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 1546
Base Score - 4.2
Processor - 4.7
Memory - 4.9 (upgraded from from 1GB to 2GB)
Graphics - 5.9
Gaming graphics - 5.5
Primary hard disk - 4.2

An older thread, may or may not be useful to you.

I've re-done the whole site and renamed it. It's now Windows Scores. I just need your scores now. So if you'd please add your laptop's scores I'll be very grateful and your best friend forever.
Thanks,

Thanks for all your scores, especially the person that put the score directly on to my site, it's all very helpful.

Can anyone tell me why my "desktop performance for Vista Aero" is so low? I am using Xtreme G 163.67 video driver.
-
Thanks strange. I've never seen a "performance for Vista Aero" score lower than the gaming graphics score before. Have you tried refreshing the score?
-
I just refreshed it before I posted here.
-
hmm, maybe updating your drivers would help.

My WEI is 4.3
on An Inspiron 1720 T8300, and 8600 GT DDR 2, 3gb ram, 250gb HDD. Does the DDR2 8600 really suck that much more? I forget the rest and I'm at work.

DDR2 8600 ??? -
I tried 169.09, the famous driver. Still no improvement.

Dell i1520/T7500/8600M GT/4GB PC5300/5400RPM 120GB -

Using the 169.09 driver from laptopvideo2go:
Still no improvement: 4.6. I followed the uninstall instructions from their website before installing this driver. -
Is there a score limit? Like is it out of 10 or what?
-
-
5.9 is currently the highest. MS plans on releasing additional criteria as hardware improves (bigger numbers). There is potential the numbers could go beyond the traditional 10-point scale.
-
Im on a Dell desktop right now score of 3.0 cause of graphics but a 5.8 for disk data transfer speed Lol

I have a suggestion for your Windows score database. I think you need to store the vista version (32 or 64 bit) as well as my scores changed between 32 and 64 bit.
My old 32 bit scores were:
Base score - 5.0
CPU - 5.3
Memory - 4.8
Graphics - 5.9
Gaming graphics - 5.4
HDD - 5.3
My new 64 bit scores are:
Base score - 5.0
CPU - 5.3
Memory - 5.0
Graphics - 5.9
Gaming graphics - 5.4
HDD - 5.3
So, for some reason, my memory score is higher under 64 bit. It *might* be because 64 bit Vista can use all 4GB?
Opps, can you find my entry on your site and fix the screen size? I put in 1440x900 (which because 1400900) as I thought you meant screen res -

Processor: 5.3
RAM: 4.8
Graphics: 5.9
Gaming Graphics: 5.4
Hard Disk: 5.4
Specs in my signature. Why is RAM score so low? -
I already entered mine directly into your site, but I'll still post it here for member's comparisons.
Specs in sig. Memory was upgraded from 2gb -> 3gb, but RAM score only increased .1 points. Overclock, on the other hand, raised gaming score by .8, if my memory serves me correctly.
Driver 171.16 -
Everyone having a 8600M GT please post your driver version as well, ok?
-
Windows Aero score will be low if you have sli enabled. It's a weird bug with vista.
Funny how an 8600GT scores as high in gaming graphics as 8800M GTX Sli...rofl. The 8800 setup only has 3-4x the power of the 8600's after all....10x the difference @ higher resolutions.
This windows index really doesn't mean a damn thing, it's a failed attempt by microsoft to benchmark computers. I wouldn't put too much weight into it. Even between Identical systems I've seen discrepencies, as much as .3 in memory on the M1730 model. It's pretty ridiculous.
