    Hey,

I need a decent download manager, that can resume downloads, if I was to say restart the computer or disconnect my awesome dial up...( Don't say get high speed, I am located in a rural area :( )

It doesn't have to be fancy or pretty, as long as it provides the ability to resume the download provided that the server I'm downloading from supports that. I've tried millions of them - yet to find a good one.

    Running on Vista FYI.

    Thanks..

I prefer Internet Download Manager. Really maxes out my connection when downloading, and shows where all the sources of retrieval are occurring. High recommendation.

IDM is good, another good one is FlashGet.

I like Speedbit's Download Accelerator Plus but you have to pay for additional features. The basic free one is fine though.

Reviving this thread. What's a good download manager/accelerator?

    Adding some criteria:
    Small footprint
    unobtrusive
no torrent functionality - I'm fine with utorrent. I don't want some random download manager trying to do this for me.
Has to work with latest minefield nightly, not just main firefox releases.

    IDM
    - uses 5mb RAM when downloading
    - you can add a keyboard shortcut to not let IDM take over your download
    - no torrent functionality
    - I use it with Opera. Don't know about mainfield.
    - BUT not free.

For a free IDM alternative, either FDM Lite or Orbit.

I either use Opera or Bitcomet for it.
