Before you ask, yes I did search the forums, and yes, I did get lots of answers, but they were rather ambiguous. Anyways, I tried Vista foe a while on a spare computer and one thing I really like about it was the instant search function. What is the best desktop search application like that? I know MS can out with WDS (which is basically the same as Vista's), but are there better ones? The 2 other ones I currently know of are Google (though is seems to crash my computer, so I can't use it until I get a solution for that) and Corpernic. Of these three, which one takes the toll on performance or has the best piracy options? Thanks

If you want a full fledged desktop search, Copernic is the best by far. Superb interface, very efficient so least drag on CPU usage, and very flexible in setting up when it indexes. It has a nice desktop access that you can put on the staus bar.

If you just want to be able to launch programs with that iIsta interface, on XP, grab a freeware prog called "launchy".
