As above says, e.g @Gmail @Me @Yahoo..
I have hotmail accont at the moment, but I know someone who can easily hack into hotmail accounts somehow without knowing the password..
So I want to switch, any ideas which to go for?
P.S I didn't know where to post this, I use windows 7 if that helps...

I don't know of any email program that is 100% secure. There are two problems with email. Your email can be intercepted and read or your email account can be hacked to get into your account. Then the hacker changes the password so that you can't get in.
If worried about the first type then encrypt your emails. You have no control over the second type. -
I think all the free options are probably the same when it comes to security. There are some paid options that are security oriented, I use Anonymous Speech. https://www.anonymousspeech.com/anonymous_email_facts_security.aspx

Yes, Ive seen it done.. This person I use to know would somehow be able to log in to an hotmail account without knowing the password.. I'm not lying..But he could only do it with Hotmail accounts.. but this was 2 years ago..
I think Ill switch to gmail/ -
It's completely possible. GMail has vulnerabilities too though it does have a whitehat program.

There are just so many ways to hack into someone's email, sniffing packets, trojan, worms, keyloggers etc...
best prevention would be
1. have a primary private email.
2. have a secondary "all spam goes here" email that you use to subscribe to public forums and whatnot.
3. and a banking email for online accounts and paypal.
4. having a good anti virus and firewall
5. and using SSL as much as possible.
6. if you're really paranoid setup an encrypted and secure vpn to connect to from a public network.
there's no point in securing 1 aspect of your system if you don't secure other parts of it, you could have all the private and secure servers you can connect to but if there's a trojan already in there because you didn't install an anti-virus or someone was sniffing traffic on your public connection in starbucks and you didn't use SSL.
no reason for them to not be able to hack in your accounts -

hotmail is no less secure than any other mail.

social engineering is easy everywhere. it's independent on platform, technology, etc. that's why it's called "social". because it attacks on the SOCIAL part: the user.
simple example: as supporter of my closest friends, i could get all their accounts if i wanted to, by just asking. that's social engineering at it's most simple.
typically, that's the way to hack anything. works much faster than trying to find some security hole, anyways. -

TorMail. In fact, look into Tor. It will be an eyeopener.
Start here: https://www.torproject.org/ -
Well Tor uses proxies to route your internet around the world but it would not prevent someone from getting your email password by the social method. In fact there is no software that will prevent that.

With Zoho free email account you can add a security question. Zoho may not be the securest, but at least no adds, no spam ,etc

In my opinion the securest way for using mail service is:
gmail + a mail address "spoofing" service (like the mail-forwarder on www.bestmail.ws).
From all free mail providers I find gmail the most secure.. especially with the two-way-authentification. Due to the "mail-forwarder"/"spoofer" no one who send mails to you (or recieves mail from you) will know about you using the gmail service as they will only see "[email protected]" but nothing gmail related.
If you want to add even more security use a VPN/SSH-Tunnel in your browser (for webmail) and mail-client. This will prevent sniffing attacks as your connection to gmail is encrypted.
What's the most secure email?
