Just as the title says. I installed Vista 64 bit, and the options for antivirus and firewall are very limited. What do you guys suggest?

NOD32 has always been my favorite antivirus. I am running it on Vista Ultimate 64-bit without any problems. I don't use software firewalls though so can't comment on that.

I second that, nod32 works fine in vista 64 bit.

Any good options for Firewall?

at the moment there is NO 3rd party firewall that works with vista (it has its own quite good firewall) that i know of.
avast is a good free/reliable av that supports 64bits well.
it is such a moot point to get a 64bits av since i have not yet heard any 64bits virus

I know this is a really old thread, but someone in the HP forum just now pointed me to it when I was asking about running security suites on 64-bit Vista, as I have just ordered an HP laptop w/64-bit Vista Ultimate.
I was lamenting the fact that my beloved ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite (that I use w/XP on my desktop) will not run on Vista 64, and the ZoneAlarm website indicates they may never have a version for 64-bit, only the 32-bit.
On the "family" computer--i.e. the "other" computer in the house that I don't use--I installed Norton Internet Security 2007, because I got tired of the whining about ZoneAlarm throwing alerts. NIS2007 handles alerts itself. I like ZA precisely because it throws alerts, so I know what's going on.
Anyway, I decided to see if maybe NIS would run on Vista 64, so I fired up the "family" computer, opened NIS, and went to their tech support site. Wonder of wonders, it will run on Vista 64.
Here's how it works: You have to already own at least NIS2007, then you can download files for NIS2008, which is compatible w/Vista 32- and 64-bit. Since I wasn't loading Vista on the "family" computer, I let NIS2007 download the files, then stopped the automatic install. NIS is tricky--it hides the install files in your "C:\Documents and Settings\ username\Local Settings\Temp\NIS15.0.0.60" folder. As soon as I stopped the install, I copied the files to another directory (they will disappear out of the "Temp" folder after a certain period of time), then burned them onto a CD.
Now, I haven't actually installed this yet on my Vista laptop, because it won't be here till next week. But if it works the same way it did w/NIS2007 (which I also went thru the same contortions to extract the hidden files out of the "Temp" directory), it works like a regular CD install. Indeed, the EXE file that starts the install is called "CDStart.exe".
Let me know if you are interested in my reporting back here after I install it, and let you know how it went.
Whats the best Antivirus and Firewall for Vista 64 Bit?
