So I'm planning on selling my laptop and wanted to put Vista on it. When I get the laptop (Refurb from Bestbuys ebay site)
It was just a formatted drive with a vista COA on the bottum. No disks or backup partition ect...

What can I do or where can I go to get another copy. I don't mind downloading an iso and burning a disc that's actually what i'd preffer to do but wanted to make sure it would work with the COA.

The official Digitalriver d/l links have been down for year or so already. In that sense there is no official links anymore, the legal part is different thing since it depends on local laws.

You could buy just plain install disc from eBay or borrow it from a friend and burn a copy for yourself. Next best thing would be manufacturer's original restore discs or a copy of those, those would certainly work and activate without problems.

Ask around some computer shops, they could have couple discs laying around or .iso images stored in a file server like we have.

Simplest trick would be just to download unaltered ISO file from your favorite torrent site, make sure that checksum matches to original, burn it and use it. Nobody knows the difference since it's the same file.

-> I think your best choice is to get the disc from the manufacturer - or maybe Microsoft.

I would NOT recommend any form of download link unless it is from Microsoft, e.g. Technet, but then you are NOT allowed to pass those ISOs on anyway.
