My school will offer it for $99 (although if it's not retail/doesn't come in the retail package I don't want it)... anywhere else cheaper, or similarly priced?
I want the new Office to match the new Vista I'm gettin

Why would you want to pay $499 for a pretty box when you can just get the software from school for $99?

If you have friend's in computer sci or engineering they might be able to get it free due to MS's licensing.

That's cheap for home and Student. My school sells The Pro version the one for (499 if you pay MSRP) for $99.

Too bad he wants the "Real deal"

Does anyone else (well students, most home office users) use anything other than MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint?
Onenote seems awesome too and it's not included in any other packages but ultimate

Sorry I meant ultimate. I'm still using 2003 when Pro was the top of the line. What ever is the top of the line that's what my school is selling, I just remembered it showing the 499 MSRP and the Student price.

It's much cheaper to buy through a college for a student version, because well, you are a student. So the college actually gets a special discount since it's vending it to you, and you can get it for much cheaper than out in any stores.

I like OpenOffice. Actually, after having played with Office 2007 (they put it in my laptop as a trial) I like OpenOffice much more :) But this is only an opinion regarding the Word/Writer in OOo. I don't use powerpoint, excell, etc. and though OpenOffice has them all too I don't know how they compare.

PS OpenOffice is free and friendly.
