XTU is only good if you don't have the ability to set things in the BIOS. With @Prema BIOS and ThrottleStop, XTU is irrelevant. It is also missing a TON of settings that are available in the Prema BIOS and ThrottleStop. So, it really adds no value except when it has to be used a last resort. It introduces more problems than anything else. And, yes... causes fans to malfunction and GPU clocks to run at full boost on the P870DM-G for some strange reason. I'm guessing there must be some kind of conflict with the Clevo EC.
It may also have something to do with not really receiving a proper update for Skylake. The current version is a bit long in the tooth. Plus, it's not even intended for laptops or non-Intel desktop motherboards. Intel made it for Intel desktop boards. It's only a side benefit that it works for some systems for which it was never intended.Last edited: Aug 15, 2016Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

uploading now, I should have the link tomorrow when I wake up. I also put the NVMe drivers for the 950 PRO in there for your convenience.
I hope you can create a bootable flash disk using RUFUS, then delete the contents (hidden / boot files should remain intact), then copy/paste my files
This is a Windows 7 Pro SP1 genuine/untouched ISO, if you want to install another edition, just delete the ei.cfg fileTBoneSan likes this. -

You don't need to have the hotkey service running to change keboard colors. Try installing Clevo Control Center, then drag a copy of the installation folder to another drive. Then uninstall it and see if you can launch KbColorPicker.exe from the folder you copied.Spartan@HIDevolution and steberg like this.

If you allow Windows 10 to update itself on the P870DM-G it will include XTU service and Intel Watchdog Timer even if you don't have those already installed. Those are among the forced updates. Since I have removed automatic update functionality and use wumt_64 to pick and chose what gets installed I was able to identify those updates and block them.Spartan@HIDevolution, Prema, hmscott and 1 other person like this.

They work fine for me for playing games. CPU stays below 80°C at 4.7GHz and the 200W 980 stays below 75°C and I never hear the fans kick on. Apparently, they don't need to.
When I am benching FN+1 does what I want it to.
If I install XTU, nothing seems to work as well as when it has never been installed. It doesn't ruin everything, but I don't like the behavior of my system nearly as much as I do if it hasn't been corrupted by XTU.TBoneSan likes this. -
The problem I seem to keep having is once if the fans are on Auto and ramp up to Max (3200*rpm) they continue to stay there, even once the machine is at idle temps. Should they keep below around 2800 rpm they seem to work just fine ramping up and down. Its getting really annoying.

yup that's my main gripe with XTU, the fans keep blowing at full speed even when the system is idle. -
Yeah, and as if that were not enough, it will downgrades your drivers to older versions than what you already have installed if you're not careful. You'll end up with broken WiFi, screwed up Intel ME drivers, antique Chipset drivers and outdated video drivers if you rely on Windows Update. I'm convinced more than ever that Micro$loth is an utterly incompetent corporation, run by idiots. And, they want us all to be OK with letting them make decisions on our behalf. Yeaaah, sure, you betcha. I say "when pigs can fly" and until then they can kiss my grits. Why don't we also just go ahead and let pre-school children use chainsaws and lawnmowers.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

now I am seriously thinking of selling my two 950 PROs and going for the X400 SanDisk drives for my P870DM3 so I can use Windows 7 again and not have crippled performance due to Windows 7 sucky support for NVMe -

@Phoenix - Micro$loth cancer alert... KB3012973 needs to be hidden by wumt users. Anniversary malware backdoor. And, look at all of the Windows Update drivers that are older than what I already have installed.

What does .. KB3012973 do? I can't find any solid info on it other than it being as a Windows 10 upgrade preparation for non Windows 10 systems, but why is it appearing on your Windows 10 machine I don't get it or what it does. -

@Mr. Fox
What the heck man, this Update MiniTool is showing me updates I've never seen before and that don't even appear on the regular Windows Update like the drivers you mentioned. I have a feeling this Update MiniTool may be borked or these update are actually being silently installed in the background and it may be that Windows Update installed XTU and its driver and NOT the latest Control Center as I thought since we're seeing that watchdog in the Windows Updates now but they are sort of hidden.... this is worse than having a virus manMr. Fox likes this. -
