I downloaded a rar file but never got around to extracting it. Then the path is missing it says. Does IE8 or Windows routinely delete stuff from a certain temp folder? How do I prevent them from getting deleted or moved?

IE usually stores its file in the temporary internet file folder. Increase the temp internet file folder limit to like 20GB and tell internet explorer to store everything, then your files won't get deleted.
