If the program requires UAC/admin privileges (and you keep UAC on), then you can instead use Task Scheduler and schedule it as a task to run as admin at either startup or login time.

    Otherwise... crayonyes's method is easier.

    It is actually in
    C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

The above is a quick way to get there, though.

    As for
    that is just plain wrong.

Actually the startup window has moved around quite a bit.

In Windows 95 and 98 it was in...
    c:\windows\start menu\programs\startup

In Windows 200 and XP it moved to...
    c:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

And then with Vista and Win 7 it moved to...
    C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

I was talking in relationship to the UI, not the file system hierarchy.
