I recently adjusted the indexing locations option on a Windows 10 system carelessly. After an index rebuild all searchable items of system configuration, including the ones inside both the new settings app and the old control panel, are gone. I can still find the settings app and the control panel in search, but not what's in them (such as "mouse and touchpad" or "storage"). Settings app complains about not having a complete index when I try to search for anything.
Which search location or provider should I enable to get them back? Can anyone show me the default config?

Is this what you're after?

Can you click modify and select "MIXES" and "MIXESII" to see where those folders are located?
And just to be sure, the missing items I mentioned are available on your system, right? -
Yes those items are available in search with my default index settings. I have confirmed 'storage' and 'storage spaces' do show up in my search index when i search for 'storage'.
You're most welcome -
Thanks.
The problem may lie somewhere beyond the indexing locations list then.Last edited: Jul 21, 2016 -
I believe they're all under users somewhere. This filepath leads me to their locations C:\Users\YOURUSERHERE\AppData\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings\en-US

Mine doesn't show any files under that path (show hidden files is enabled).
I added the whole C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\ path to indexing locations. Didn't make a difference.
Maybe the files you found are the results of indexing (it says "indexed" after all), not the targets to index? Notice how "AppData" is excluded for "Users".
Added "Users" to indexing locations. It was not helpful.
Where to find the system settings entry for search on Win 10?
