Are there any places where i can buy Microsoft office 2007 at a discounted price? I'm a US college enrolled student atm.

There's that ultimate steal deal from microsoft ($60), but I don't know if it's still going. I remember it expired in May 2008. Now I'm seeing another one?

yes, as qhn's Link shows, it is available through MS through 2010, but you must have an .edu email account or prove you are a student, ie, class schedule, ID, etc. Great Deal for Ultimate!!!

Or if you don't have your student id handy, or an .edu email addy, you can walk in almost any Best BuY and buy the student version for $149, on sale for $99 right now.

The software costs $60, which is downloaded electronically. Then there's an option to add a back-up DVD. Does the back-up DVD actually contain everything the original software has? It's only $13. I mean... can it actually work by itself without the $60 software?

Then I see another option at checkout. "Extended Download Service." They keep a back-up copy of your digital file should you redownload it again. I don't think this is necessary as long as you have the DVD, but I'm guessing you can only download the software once, and after that it can no longer be redownloaded. Right?

In actuality, you can request one of those 60-day trial editions from the Microsoft Office website and download it from there anytime. Then you can use the key that Microsoft gives you on that to activate it.

The $60 you pay is for the license key. Just having the installation DVD won't make it work on its own, as it'll be a time limited trial without a key (about 60 days I think).

I believe the $60 gives you a download and the key. You should record the key and keep it safe somewhere so that if you need to reinstall you can. The disc is $13 in addition to the $60 so you can reinstall if you don't have access to the internet or if it is a couple years from now and the download is no longer available. The disc is no good without the key.

Your right Cat Mom. The disc is 13 bucks on top of the 60. I ended up getting the CD as well, just so I could make sure that I could reinstall the software if necessary (I don't trust those digital locker services to be around :p) It's come in handy a few times.

The disc contains the same thing as a Office 07 Ultimate download. :)

(great avy, btw Cat Mom :))

The Microsoft's Digital Locker service is actually scheduled for termination later this year in August or September I believe. I got an email about it from Microsoft stating that not too long ago.

Can one key be installed on multiple computers (x number of licenses)?

I believe you can have the Home & Student edition installed on up to 3 machines. I'm not sure about the others though.

Only the Home Office & Student version; all other versions require purchase of an additional license for each subsequent machine you want to install it on.

I'm overly cautious - I have the .exe saved to two external drives, and I purchased the dvd's (comes on 2 disc's). With Ultimate 2007, I think they say you can install on 1 desktop, and one portable (laptop) device. I've got it installed and activated on 2 Dell Inspiron 1521 laptops, since there are no Windows based desktop machines in my house.

You'll need an @edu email address to get a link to access the webstore.
