    Where's a decent Gmail notifier?

I recently migrated from Linux to Windows and there is one thing I am missing terribly. It is CheckGmail - a gmail notifier with astounding account control.

    Here's how it looks:
    http://techcityinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/gmailnotifier.png

As you can see, it gives utter control over your mailbox without the necessity of having to login to the inbox with a browser.

Is there something similar for Windows? I looked high and low but found nothing comparable.

Looks like the linux one is the same as google's official notifier: Gmail Notifier

That should do what you want.

I really wasn't a fan of the Windows 7 notifier plus, PSBTW.

You posted an image that looks like it does the same thing as the linux version. I didn't know it had advanced controls.

If you want advanced controls like that you'll probably have to use the notifier plus chrome plugin as it lets you do mailbox management without actually going to the site.

I thought the screen I linked to shows those control options quite explicitly.

I think one needs chrome using to use this plugin. I only use Chrome for gmail so that is vicious circle. I am surprised that Windows, being the more popular system, has nothing corresponding in usability to a linux program.

Tried that as well. Ghastly-working interface and hardly any useful futures.

As you don't seem to like any of the apps the members posted for you, then your best bet is to try google.

It is not about liking or disliking, they just do not offer functions I need.

I tried google for hours before posting this thread. This is why I already tested programs proposed in this thread.

Thanks but 1st is an email client, not notifier; 2nd and 4th are only for mac; 3rd only notifies and does not offer any function like "Mark as read" "Spam" or "Delete".

And I am using XP 64 so the one for Windows7 is out as well :(

Notifier2 is out as it only check messages every 15min and also has no options I am looking for.

Now, Scott's Gmali Notifier is better than anything so far, yet still not what I am looking for.

Digsby has controls for "function like 'Mark as read' 'Spam' or 'Delete'" without "having to login to the inbox with a browser." You can also add Yahoo!, Hotmail and IMAP accounts with similar functionality. Digsby began as a multi-protocol IM client, then expanded to include email access and social networking integration.

The message pop-up is shown in the lower left corner and the pop-up listing of your email inbox is shown on the right side, with the controls you are looking for. This list is shown when you mouse over the account in the Digsby window. The pop up location, like most of other aspects of Digsby, is configurable.

Intriguing. Is it possible to use Digsby only for email notification? I am using Miranda for all my IM needs.

    EDIT:
Well, it looks like it is doing exactly what I asked for. Thanks a lot.
Now I just have to find a way to get rid of the redundant green IM icon.

I've never tried so I honestly don't know, though it does seem unlikely.

    I use this one:
    Windows Live Gallery

It's a Windows Gadget - sits on my desktop, plain and simple, and does its job well.
