As the topic says, which version of Win 7 do you think you are getting? It can be thought as budget wise, gaming wise, features wise or any thing. I just wanted to do a quick survey on that and write a paper for extra credits. As for me, Im going with the ultimate one.![]()

Windows 7 Signature Edition
well...hopefully, if I get picked -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Whats so special in that edition?
-
It has a signature on it.
(And it's free but only if you get picked to host a launch party). -

Signature of whom? Mr. Gates himself?
-
Windows 7 Ultimate I'm getting for free.
-
Meh Ultimate I reckon. x64 too.
-
Windows 7 Professional x64 via MSDNAA here.
-
O, and x64 of course. I think most people will be moving to 64 bit anyway, 32 bit is so lame.
-
All of them. Already. From Technet.
But I'm using Enterprise, which is just Ultimate with a volume licensing key rather than a retail key. -
I currently use Professional. Got it from the MSDN Academic Alliance thing going on with MS and my University.
-
I'm getting Windows 7 Professional x64 free through MSDNAA as well
-
ultimate here 64.. already have them all installed though.. technet
-
Windows 7 Starter will be suck. LOL.
Windows 7 Home Basic is not good either.
The rest of it, good. The best will be Ultimate. I was getting it. >.<
64bit FTW!!! Try to get x64 Windows 7 Installation Disc instead of x86.
The license key of Windows 7(any version) works on both 32bit and 64bit of Windows 7. -
I'm getting Windows 7 Ultimate. I simply want the best versions of everything I buy, and 50% of all the voters agree with me
-
Professional X64 pre-ordered thru Win741 promotion.
-
Starter edition will not be available in the USA.
Home Basic is only supposed to be for netbooks without the ability to run Aero. It will not be widely available for purchase.
All editions except Starter will include both 32 and 64-bit disks in the retail box.
Ultimate (like Vista Ultimate) has the inherent "cool" tax. At $219/$319 it costs as much as a netbook. But hey - you do get a kicking black box. -

I was also confused on getting 32 or 64 bit?
Any problems in compatiability?
As I read that 64 bit allows only whql certified? -
None of the above.
I have Enterprise edition. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
-
I got those two editions mixed around then.
Vista Home Basic was always used for netbooks and budget laptops while Vista Starter was used for emerging markets. I guess they switched that around with 7. -
Ultimate...
-
Win 7 Ultimate (64)..I already have it..
Cin... -
Win7 Pro 32. I have 64 too, probably try that out at some point down the line when I add some ram. Got both for free, MSDNAA.
-
I got professional $20 through the msnaa program. Would like to have Ultimate but this deal was too good to pass up. Not really sure I need the extra features that are in Ultimate anyway. May upgrade to it later if I find that I need them.
-
Only Win7 x64 Ultimate is suitable for me ....
-
Ultimate is pretty useless except for multi language pack and Bit locker (which requires TPM chip).
-
-
I'll be happy with Windows 7 Professional, prob. the 64 bit version in case I want to get more RAM -
Getting Ultimate....I got for $10.68 total thru Xpert Zone. God I love my job. And since I'm a student I may do that $29.95 deal for the Windows 7 upgrade and just install that on my mom's laptop or desktop.
That's perfectly legal right? -
Ultimate 64-bit
Work will provide it for me of course. -
I pre-ordered Windows 7 Pro but will be getting Ultimate Signature Edition since I am organizing a Windows 7 Launch Party
-
I already got 7 Pro x64 through MSDNAA, but I get 7 Home Premium from HP whenever they ship it out because I got my computer on the 13th of august.
I probably won't even bother messing with that when it gets here. -
I pre-ordered the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade package back when it was $50, so that's what I'll be running (64-bit)
-
Home Premium 64bit here. Pre-orderd upgrade for $50, can't wait to get it.
-
Pro X64 for my T400
Ultimate X64 for Desktop -
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as per my sig....
-
I'm getting Windows Home Premium 32 bit for $30
-

hmmmmm. Professional is the winner as of now followed by Ultimate. Do you guys think that Ultimate is a bad choice than Pro?
-
not at all just more money..
-
Despite being a Technet subscriber I'm pretty much going to settle on Home Premium. Maybe on one of my desktops I'll keep Ultimate or Pro running. I've found Vista Ultimate to be extremely over-rated and contains 'features' that I've never bothered using.
For those that have multiple computers and plan on getting Home Premium (which should be the o/s of choice for most users) wait for the Family Pack which will contain three activation licenses for a mere $150 US. A bargain really. -
Ultimate x64 through Technet, yep.
-
Win7 Ultimate 64bit all the way.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Professional as that is what I have gotten through MSDNAA.
-
Professional x64. Ordered half price upgrade edition, except in the UK it will actually be the full retail edition as MS are honouring this for those that pre-ordered
-

Ultimate from my campus computer store for ~$40. But in November
