I prefer perfect disk, but then again I get it free through work. I did run the trial of diskeeper for a month and found no improvement over perfect disk, I did give it chance to do its "intellithingy" but still no imrovement in program loading times/boot times.

JK defrag is the best and most thorough

Auslogics is the fastest and quite good.

    So use both of them.

Isn't using two defrag programs counter productive since they use different defrag procedures?

    One more for JKDefrag.

Its simple, no installation required, has 64 bit support and the results are fantastic.

Most of the people here voted for the other...

    I use 2 defrag programs
I use Auslogics for fast results( like when I have just moved little sized programs or data)

I use JK Defrag when things get too big for Aulogics.

Mine would not conflict with each other. After I used JK Defrag I would use Auslogics to make sure it is 100% thorough(some files can still be dfragged even after using JK Defrag)

I'm with you on that one, but I'm wondering if these others are really that much better. I tried out Auslogics a few days ago and I ended up with 4GB less space on one partition, and not sure why.

I use JKDefrag GUI, which is a slightly modified version of JKDefrag. I want to look into Defraggler but with reports of it bombing out people systems and them losing HD space keep me off it until it's out of beta.

ausologics is blazing fast so I go with that. Have tried diskeeper. Dont like the processes it leaves running on the comp. Plus it is slow.

How do you know it is not thorough? Just because it is fast?

Edit: Ok I just tried JKDefrag and WOW!!! My drive was like swiss cheese even after running ausologics. JKDefrag ligned everything up as one huge block. Ausologics would always leave big gaps. JKDefrag is definetly way more thorough, but it is wayyy slower.

JKDefrag + Ausologics makes a great combination!

Maybe not, but I miss the visuals of the XP defragger in Vista.

I used Diskeeper while Vista was in beta, Auslogics since RTM. On the advice of another NBR member, I downloaded JKDefrag but have not tested it yet.

I tried O&O Defrag and it started locking up after Vista SP1. It would intermittently hang at 94%. I stopped the defrag and it would tell me that it was not responding. I uninstalled it and went back to Vista's built in defrag with no problems.

I don't know what to say, except that it always works very well on my systems. :)
Defragging VSS enabled volumes (with cluster size < 16k) properly is very tricky and no defragger can function perfectly normally on such volumes without purging shadow copies. Yet, diskeeper works pretty nicely in it's VSS-compatible mode; although boot-time defrag has been temporarily disabled in the latest build due to incompatibilities with SP1 and VSS.

Diskeeper is certified for Vista as well as Server2008. :)

As for PD, when I tried the previous version on XP pro a while ago, I found Smartplacement to be pretty much useless...did not make any detectable difference in performance. I haven't tried the latest versions though.

I lay emphasis mainly on defragging the files...the rest..ie. file 'placement' and 'full space consolidation' is mostly BS and a total waste of time and computing resources. But it boils down to the user's personal system and choice, I guess. Oh well..

JKDefrag GUI is the fastest while being most efficient. If you're just looking for a quick defrag then use Auslogics Disk Defrag.
