Which of the following can be disabled from start-up? (The JAVA thing always pops up very annoying)

    Synaptics pointing device driver
Intel common user interface [there are 3 of this thing]
    SmartAudio Control panel application
    JAVA platform SE auto updater
    FMAPP application (what is this??)
Domino (what the hell is this?)
    BIGDOG [What?]
Kaspersky security scan [I only downloaded AVG, don't how this one got here]

    Thanks for help.

The popup your seeing is from the updater. :)

Domino and BigDog are part of your webcam driver package. FMAPP is audio.

I really wouldn't disable any of that stuff, except for maybe the Java updater.

    Thanks for the replies.

I don't have built-in webcam. The web cam that I have installed is not compatible with Windows 7 so I can't use it anyway. But even if I can use it, what would happen if I disable these?

If you could use it, you would have to manually load those programs every time you wanted to use the webcam. For the resources they likely take up, it's not worth it.

Removing webcam based programs you mentioned won't affect functionality of your webcam in the first place.
You only need the drivers to make the cam operational in programs such as WLM and Skype, and you can easily manually run the extra software for recording webcam videos you make (if you make them) without running them in the background (which is a waste of resources).

I would only leave the following:
Touchpad (I experienced loss of touchpad functionality when removing this from the startup on various systems, so merely disable the Touchpad icon from showing up in the taskbar).
Java (if you want the automated update service to look for new updates regularly that is... if not, then remove it).
    Avast (remove Kaspersky).

That's pretty much it... everything else can easily go.

I would use cCleaner and disable all of them. Kapersky: you might have to look into Services since it might be started from there as well.

    cheers ...
