Setting up my Dellaptop: any reason to choose one of these over the others? I know more expensive doesn't always mean better...

    -- Windows Vista® Ultimate1 32 bit
Genuine Windows Vista(R) Ultimate 32 bit (English) DVD Media Included + Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption for extra security.

    -- Windows Vista® Business Aero
-- Windows Vista® Home Premium with Aero

Check out the comparison on Microsoft's website here: Vista Comparison

Home Premium is usually sufficient for the average home user.

I have both ultimate and premium... I can't tell the difference... all the wonderful extra stuff you can do with ultimate is ultimately worthless for me. Bitlocker does not work since my notebook does not have some something built into the mobo, I use tech smith for my media, backup I use acronis, and don't know what you mean by extra security.

I also have very little need for most of the consumer stuff in premium and ultimate, like media center.

But you might need some of the stuff in ultimate... just make sure you actually need the stuff and don't get caught up in marketing hype... or thinking ultimate must be "better" than premium.... I've run xp home and xp pro for years (one on desktop and one on laptop) without ever seeing a limitation in xp home.

But you may need some of the extra stuff in ultimate... all about how "you" work... only you will know for sure.

Ultimate and Business are better for mobile user (more complete Power Management)

I agree that Home Premium is probably the best for like 80% of Windows users. Even ads for some of the leading PC gaming computer makers spec Premium with their systems. I, however, am a completist and don't like missing out on anything so I opt for Ultimate on all my machines (2) running Vista. I also have Business edition to install on my wife's laptop (to upgrade from XP Pro) but she is more resistant to change than I.

Business is my choice due to the complete backup feature. No need to mess around with Acronis anymore. Simple, easy, reliable backup and restore of the complete system. Ultimate is just over the top on price for me.

Whichever one fits your budget and your needs. I have two machines running Home Premium, because thats what came on them when I ordered. I got a great deal on Vista Business thru my job, so I purchased that for myself.
