1. State what you do (type of employment, student, etc.)
2. State what word processing application you use
-
1. Profession: IT consultant in electronic document management.
2. Use: Word. Mainly because of it's easy integration w/ other Apps (ie, VBA) and consistant interface w/ other MS Apps.
My first job was a trainer, teaching alot of WP (5.1/6.0 for DOS, 5.2/6.0 for Windows). WP, once you learned how to use the hidden codes, was alot more intuitive than dealing with Word and how it used Sections. I would occasionally teach WP>Word migration classes, and people always had a tough time with it. Even today, though Word is much more prevalent in the corporate environment, the formatting of documents (if you look at how styles are applied and sections used in the documents) that come across my desk is absolutely horrible, mostly because most people can't understand how Word is applying formatting to the document. -
forgot to vote in my own poll. duh.

So much more powerful than Word, and with, a bit of experience, easier to use. Especially when collaborating with others, it's a dream to work with, compared to Word, which involves either letting one person edit the file at a time, or write independently and then copy/paste everything together.
And the results just look more professional.
I can recommend it, especially for writing school/college reports and such. (Most of your textbooks are probably written with it anyway)
(Oh, and it has a fun name, and it's free)

I used to work with WordPerfect. I loved it, and as the years progressed, I need ed to share the documents with people who used Word. It was a pain - sadly, I switched over to Microsoft.
There was no avoiding it. It was inevitable. One day when all college and upcoming (far in future) grad school is over, I can go to Corel or OpenOffice.
Currently: Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Beta -
