According to the disk cleanup I just ran, I have 24.3 GB of Temporary Files. Not temporary internet files, just temporary files. For some reason I'm scared to delete that massive chunk of data, could there be something important in my TEMP folder?

Could it possibly be a data mistake and I really don't have that many files to delete?

You can set a restore point before deleting.

    Else, let 'em be there....

What kind of software are you running? It is creating temp files, and when it is done with them, it doesn't keep track of them or delete them. That is why you have a 25GB block of random data.

When the original Microsoft Anti-spyware program came out it put ~15GB of random text documents in my temp files for some reason. It was the sweetest delete I've ever done.

My advice? Start viewing some of the temp files or even googling their names if they're unique. Then wipe 'em out after backup.

i would put them on a external hard drive and wipe them out on your computer, if you really DID delete crucial files, then just put em back

99,99% of the time, what gets copied to the temp folder ain't important at all. So, unless you have some installer program installing something as we speak, deleting the contents of your temp folders should create no issue what so ever. And, 24GB of temp files ain't so bad in Vista ;) I've done better myself, not to brag... :) Vista REALLY LOVES a decent disk cleanup utility, as the one integrated in Vista ain't that great...

Piriform CCleaner and Auslogics DiskCleaner are recommended programs.
